Can’t remember the last time I had a perfect victory in The Bazaar, let alone two in one day! Admittedly this wasn’t ranked though.

Just finished Lords of the Fallen. What an unexpectedly great Souslike. The final boss looked pretty cool too.

Too intimidated by the reported difficulty of Silksong to pick it up. Decided I wanted to play something easier, so I’m replaying Dark Souls III instead.

What does it say about me that I love hanging out in the forlorn worlds of the Souls games? Loved Shadow of the Colossus’ world too.

I’m playing Monster Train 2 on covenant 10 because that’s what @retromation.bsky.social does, and that’s what real gamers do, but OMG it’s stressful and I’m barely hanging on by the skin of my teeth. 😕

Finished Sword of the Sea. It looks incredible, traversal feels great, and the use of the PS5 controller’s haptics and speaker is excellent. It lacks the emotional heft of Journey though, and sometimes I thought its callbacks to that game (and Abzu) were a little heavy-handed. Still, recommended!

Sword of the Sea’s photo mode is so good it’s annoying, because I’m constantly compelled to interrupt my game to snap a new vista! 😀 Don’t think I’ve used photo mode in a game so heavily since Horizon Zero Dawn!

Horizon Forbidden West is very pretty.

In Horizon Forbidden West, I just realised that you can dive underwater. So I tried it in a small pool and realised it was really deep and there was an underwater passage and I swan through it and came up in a freaking water-filled cave!! The joy of unexpected discovery in an open world.

This may be the best live action trailer for a video game that I’ve ever seen.

Took a week off work this week to dive into my backlog. Here are my thoughts on the games I played!

I’ve been getting back into Beneath Oresa again, this time on the PS5. Really satisfying roguelike deckbuilder with deliciously kinetic combat, nicely accentuated by the controller rumble!

Finally managed to beat not only Endless 2 but Endless 3 in Monster Train 2! Stacked Multistrike on my Umbra hero with Trample using multiple Furnace Taps, and handled all the Emberdrain with a Perils of Production with Holdover on it.

Just finished Jusant. Very pretty game.

I have never watched a Studio Ghibli movie, but I’ve played several of the games mentioned here.

Clair Obscur has gone straight in to my top 5 video games of all time. Story, acting, music, gameplay are all first-class. Finished the main game and am now having a blast taking on all the optional fights and in the process discovering multiple locations I missed first time around.

Monster Train 2 is out but I still haven’t finished Clair Obscur. Unstoppable force, meet immovable object.

Looking forward to Monster Train 2 today. But wonder whether it, and Slay the Spire 2 later this year, can live up to the first one.

I know they’re entirely optional, but Clair Obscur would be better without any of the Gestral Beaches. Why put parkour challenges in a game where the platforming feels bad?

So in love with Clair Obscur that I’ve been listening to the soundtrack when I haven’t been playing the game. Over *8 hours* of gorgeous orchestral, choral, French-infused music. Stunning.

I’m absolutely in love with Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. Looks beautiful, gorgeous music, challenging combat, and fantastic voice-acting and storytelling.

So I've quite enjoyed Blue Prince, but I'm now 40 days in and the RNG is absolutely killing me. I have some ideas of what I need to do to progress, but for run after run I just don't get the combinations I need to do those things. A novel game, but the RNG and the grind keeps it from being great.😞

Currently playing Elite: Dangerous, which I’ve gone back to now that my son has left home and I can steal his HOTAS. I grew up playing the original Elite on the BBC Micro. Current goal is to rep grind with the Federation so I’m allowed to go to Sol system and visit Earth. 😀

Made in to epilogue 11 in Roguebook and then the game crashed and corrupted my save file. The PS5 was able to recover it from an earlier save, but that was from 4 hours earlier, before my successful epilogue 10 run. So that will be the last I play of that. Super frustrating.

Been playing a lot of Roguebook again recently, this time on the PS5. Really great - and good-looking - roguelite deckbuilder, and it’s free if you have PlayStation Plus. When I was streaming it I managed to get runs down to 1 hour, but now I’m back up to 2.5 hours lol.
