Assuming everyone listed was at the bottom of the associated bracket, that's an increase of almost sixteen million pounds being paid to those at the very top. That's half of Newcastle's budgetary black hole right there. They could save at least five mil capping salaries at a "mere" hundred grand.

The concern of the disabled community around the 'slippery slope' of assisted dying must be taken seriously. These are people within insight and experience of the harms produced by a healthcare system where cost takes precedent and needs are deprioritised. If they are concerned, we all should be.
