Sometimes I look at the sky, and I think about all the people who live under the same sky but in incredibly different places than #Gaza. I never left Gaza in my whole life. It is all I know. I’d love to see some things you never see in Gaza.

Where is the humanity? Where are those who can do something about it, amidst all this suffering we endure, despite the ceasefire? Don’t they see the violations Israel is committing, leaving us to starve?

Even though they say there's a ceasefire, all prices are extremely high due to scarcity. The occupation has tightened its grip on Gaza, preventing aid and goods from entering. Only limited quantities are allowed in, barely enough for a few.

Then I saw someone selling meat. I asked about a kilo of frozen meat, and he said it cost 90 shekels (30 American dollars). One kilo of chicken costs 75 shekels per kilo (25 American dollars).

I left the vendor and walked on.

Let's say my family and I want to eat fish; one kilo isn't enough for my family. We are 19 people, so we need around 5 kilos. Do you know how much that would cost? 650 shekels, which is more than 200 American dollars. We can't even afford to eat it because of the price.

I asked him why the price was so high, and he told me they can't fish in the sea because the occupation is tightening its grip on the fishermen. I was shocked by the price of one kilo of fish.

To give you an idea, the average income for a middle class family in Gaza before October 2023 was 250 American dollars per month.

The occupation boats were everywhere, preventing anyone from approaching. The siege on the sea is very tight. As I was leaving the beach, I saw someone selling fish and asked him the price. He told me it was 130 shekels per kilo (40 American dollars), which is very expensive.

You may wonder: since everything is remote, why not register to a university outside of Gaza? We cannot register at any university outside Gaza without obtaining scholarships. Therefore, we restrict our studies at Gaza universities. 5/7

But because of poor internet, there are times when we miss meetings. There is also difficulty in communicating with professors due to internet outages across large areas of Gaza. Really, everything is difficult due to a lack of everything 😅 4/7

The university administration is currently located in Gaza, but it does not have a physical campus. We communicate via WhatsApp groups. There is a platform where course materials are uploaded. And every once in a while, we log in to a video meeting with a teacher and other students. 3/7

Meanwhile, I also washed my clothes by hand. We don’t have any washing machines in Gaza anymore, so most people do this. My family is staying near a water line, we get water once a day for drinking, cooking and washing. I'm very careful not to tear it up. Have you ever washed your clothes by hand?

I was maintaining the cooking fire. Between my parents, my siblings, their spouses and their children, we’re a big family with 19 mouths to feed. Unfortunately, firewood is expensive, so we resort to burning plastic. The smoke is very unhealthy, but not everyone gets exposed to it, only me.
