I’m not anti-ai, but I am a realist. I hope AI gets to a point where software can be seen as a commodity and to some extent it is. For small projects used by an individual it’s great! The flip side is that it falls apart at scale, like most technology.

I actually hate the #reddit error page. Telling the users they did something wrong when there is a 5xx error is a pretty poor user experience. Don't blame the user for your mistakes...

One thing I'm struggling with using AI agents is managing virtual environments. I use them for most of projects but agents don't cooperate well with venvs. I tried defining `flox activate` or `mise use` in the prompt, but that has been finicky at best. Anyone have things that work for them?

This is succinct and well written. As backend engineers we are now designing APIs for humans, software, and agents. Different concerns for different clients.

One interesting thing with the GCP outage yesterday is that some of our builds failed because it could not pull down packages from pkg.go.dev. So even though we don't use GCP infra we were still sort of impacted.

There are a lot of folks scared the dev jobs are going away because of LLMs and AI code editors like @windsurfai.bsky.social. I think what most of these folks fail to acknowledge is that actually typing code is less than 30% of the job. There is way more to building software than writing code.

Youtube really has radicalization built into its algorithm huh? I watched 1 video about politics and now half the recommended videos are political extremists or political commentary. What makes it worse is that Youtube also puts recommended videos in search so I am just bombarded with politics now.

I've been experimenting with @flox.dev for a project and its really nice! I've wanted to get into #nixos for a while and Flox simplifies Nix significantly. Next will be using it to replace homebrew for everything except casks. I'll probably also look to use it for a project at work. I'm sold!

One of the biggest lesson I learned very early in my career was from @kozolchyk.com. Always lead with the answer to the question and if more context is needed let them ask for it instead of offering it. Sometimes I don't care if something is late, I just need to know that it is.

One thing I miss in #golang is proper enums. I love getting compile errors for non-exhaustive pattern matches. Switch statements aren't the same as pattern matching, but we often use it the same way when writing go. A switch over an enum with errors for missing cases would be dope!

I just got the new #m4max #macbookpro and its pretty nice, but it doesn't make me feel like my #m1max was lacking. I feel like performance is seeing diminishing returns making innovative design even more important to differentiate hardware.

This is pretty dope! I have a playlist of songs I Shazammed and a lot of times I question why I wanted to know what song this was. Context matters a ton, especially when its a song outside of my norm. I'm actually pretty excited about this.

One of my favorite apps on my is KeyboardCleaningTool. All it does is lock my keyboard so I can wipe it down without worrying about random key strokes. Its super simple and just works. Highly recommended!
