Just finished The Two Towers and now onto RotK. This is my third time through the books and I am constantly amazed at the way it makes me feel like I am reading it for the first time. Fresh wonder and awe, what a treat!

I am setting out to write a story that I have been telling my kids at bedtime. I just wrote the first chapter of sorts. I would love for you to read it and let me know your thoughts. What a fun adventure to see the tale growing in the telling!

I think about this often: Tolkien created an entire world, filled with an ancient history and languages, out of his own love, and millions of people have been deeply impacted and changed by it. Tolkien created art from his heart. The world was changed. Let's do more of this.

The older I get, the more I have a distaste for hype and a longing for the mundane moments filled with hidden enchantment. Sitting in the backyard and staring at the birds. Drinking good coffee in the morning. Watching the wild colors of the sunset with wide eyes of wonder.
