If you could only read one genre for the rest of your life, what would it be?

You know, it's interesting how one first draft can end up mostly whole and continuous but require a ton of rewriting, while another can have a million incomplete chapters but need almost no rearranging or rewriting. Every project really is different.

Planned out all my structural edits for my Rumpelstiltskin retelling! Ready to flesh out the MANY missing sections 😂

I think I have never experienced anything as difficult as hunting down two recently published sci-fi novella comp titles in a matter of hours 😂🙃😱💀 That is not an experience I ever hope to repeat 🤣

So, one of my dream agents opened for the first time in years? And she wants sci-fi novellas?? And I have a complete sci-fi novella??? So speed wrote a query package and sent it off, and now I have officially entered the query trenches for the first time!! 🎉

Been less active the past couple weeks, but things have gotten a little less busy, so gonna make more of an effort here again!

#WritingCommunity, do you have a character that is in some way based on a side of yourself? I feel like a lot of my characters are. In my current project's MC's case, I think he's the insecure side of me that doesn't feel comfortable in my own skin sometimes.

Headaches all day, so took a break from writing and worked on making a comprehensive list of all my writing projects. Apparently, I have 28 of them 😂 I've only gotten around to making real progress on 8 of them. How many stories do you have that you know you'll write one day?

Writers, do you take notes or make a plan before you revise, or do you jump in and get started?

#WritingCommunity, do you have a least favorite trope? Mine is specifically the misunderstanding trope when the misunderstanding is literally the only thing keeping the book from ending right then and there. I like the trope otherwise, just not used like that 😂

Me: Woo! Five pages edited today! Great progress! I must be almost done! Me after checking my revision notes: ...what do you mean there's another 10 pages to go in this chapter? 😭

Do you ever worry that when you're editing out parts that aren't important, you might also be editing out too much of your voice? It's such a hard balance sometimes...

#Writing Community, do you ever base your settings on real places? I don't set mine directly in a real place usually, but I have based a house off an old rundown trailer I used to live in. The rain used to pound on the metal roof so loud it was impossible to sleep some nights.

What do you do when you just aren't feeling the writing? Push through it? Take a break? Change projects? I always struggle getting started so I usually just have to get the ball rolling, but if I'm still kicking my feet an hour in, I usually step away and do something else.

My rewrites and feedback have really been getting me down, so today, I'm taking it easy. Homemade lasagna and crochet 😊

Do you all have a reading schedule? I keep trying to make a daily habit of it, but I tend to binge read, so it's half the book or none of it for me 😂

Writers, where do the ideas for your stories usually start? Do you usually have a plot in mind first? Characters? A setting? It depends for me. I usually get a spark of inspiration, just the image of a single scene, and then I often build up around that.
