Take a second and think before posting the easy Eeyore reply. You might have something substantive to say instead. Or, even better, you can say nothing at all.

im sure Wairoa and Central HB will be glad that their mayors will now have to travel to Napier rather than focusing on their districts, but localism is very important to this govt obvs mayors weren't elected to do what the govt is proposing, insane not to announce this like 6 months ago

reform in local govt is needed but just getting rid of regional councils seems like the worst way of doing that more stuff should be organised at the regional level, there's too many local councils it makes no sense that hawke's bay has 5 councils for example

reforming local govt with less than a year to a general election—one in which you are not guaranteed to win—is just insane. shit takes time. also weird to wait to after this terms local elections, for a "fiscally conservative" govt you'd think they want to do it before hand to avoid the costs

Shout out to Aotearoa New Zealand editor Shaun, whose first Featured Article is currently pride of place on Wikipedia's home page 👏 Alicella gigantea is an amphipod found at ocean depths between 4,850 and 7,000 metres, making it hard to find — but information on it isn’t:

While I'm on this I find it very weird everyone's discussing these "tricks" they think Trump might use to run for a third term. I don't think he will, but if Trump decides to run for a third term here's how he'll do it: he'll announce he's running for a third term and Republicans will let him.
