New in the shop: Anna Brones’ little bicycling cookbook The Culinary Cyclist
Which lunchtime foods pair best with which type of bicycle? You may never have considered this question before, but that tells me that you need to buy a copy of The Culinary Cyclist by Anna Brones and Johanna Kindvall. This little 2015 cookbook from Elly Blue Publishing is a lovely way to daydream about picnics by bicycle or come up with the perfect craft cocktail for your flask.

The British dislike Trump because he lacks Class, Cool, and Credibility. According to British blogger and humorist Nate White. The three Cs brilliant.

Understory tree, its blooms attract hoards of a large black and white wasp. I had one in my Seattle parking strip, it doesn’t like to be alone. Great tree.

This is must-see cinema. Works on all levels. Pithy and beautiful. The music. Political. And horrific.

Just watched this: Our dollars paying for further militarization of local police —-not healthcare or great parks and pools, and the taser makers are billionaires. Not good.

Yes, co-ops are the answer. Models for living without the rich getting richer. People and democracy, let’s go.

Here’s one of Seattle’s first Wildlife Sanctuary lot in Ballard 3003 NW 70th St. Looks like the owner is gone, house boarded up and a picture and candle in the parking strip. A real gem : vital for animals, the lot all trees and shrubs.

Camperdown Elm on our block survived construction of a new house, but limbed up. It is 100 years old and a focus tree on our Ballard Seattle block.

ERA more important than ever! 28 states have the ERA or gender equality language. It will be the 28th Amendment to the Constitution, first passed in Congress 1972.

Here’s a Mazzard Cherry living at 3033 NW 62nd (Ballard). According to Street Trees of Seattle by Taha Ebrahimi this tree is the first recorded cherry tree in the public right-of-way.

A blooming Scrophularia, a figwort in my garden seeded 20 years ago, a close and old relative of the Foxglove. Seeds itself about the garden, its blooms are orange, bee and hummingbird magnet. Happy Beltane, first day of summer.
