Do I keep working tonight or crash and wake up extra early in the morning to finish my tasks?

What’s new with me? Nothing. Work is rough but that’s not fun to talk about. The world (with a US focus) is getting into a deeper mess every day but that’s already dominating all of our feeds, right? Time for my yearly physical which might be the only “fun” part of my day. We’ll see.

Nu-Nu- No-tor-ious …was last night’s movie on the big screen. I came back after seeing Casablanca last week. I’ve always enjoyed movies where normal people fight nazis and now I love them even more.

It has been a week and I’m excited for the 3 day weekend. Just have to get through the Friday workday… And oh, I got the Covid and flu vaccines today. Wonder how I’ll be feeling tomorrow.

Seated for Three Days of the Condor, a movie little Jason saw way, way too young and which influenced my movie taste ever since.

Just watched Meshes of the Afternoon for the first time since my college film class back in 1989 (!!!) and it’s amazing how little of its 14 minutes I remembered and yet it also contains a multitude of images that that have stuck with me through the years.

First book of 2026 was an enjoyable short mystery from Japan.

All right, the special New Year’s showing of Megalopolis is happening. Wish me luck, I suspect I’m going to need it.

I made it to the gym when it opened at 7am. I suppose this is how I celebrate New Year’s now that I’m old and go to bed before midnight.

Yesterday, before I resolved to spend less money at restaurants. And for those of you who would mock my chain dining choice, I’ll have you know that their vegan Cobb salad is surprisingly delicious.

Finishing this funny & entertaining novel was a great way to close out the year.

As a lover of fine cinema it’s important to see the classics on a big screen whenever possible.

Took my last hike of 2025 this morning. Might be the last one for a while if the forecast of a weeks rain is true.

I love when I win framed.wtf on the first guess, but it’s extra special when it’s for a movie I’ve never seen before, like today.

I just tried pinsa for the first time and oh my god it’s incredible. (It’s basically pizza made with rice flour which doesn’t sound like a big difference but it is!)

I was too sick to go last week, but I’m back to being a basic bitch post-Christmas and treated myself to a $10 standing room ticket for The Nutcracker.

I am once again back on my bullshit and eating at the vegan counterfeit McDonald’s with terrible lighting and it feels so good.

It’s going to rain like crazy so I can’t hike on Christmas morning like I usually do, so luckily I was able to get out today instead.

Batman Returns on the big screen (yay) at the mall (boooo). I must be crazy. I love this movie but… I don’t think I’ve seen it since it came out. 🤷‍♂️ Hopefully it holds up to my memory of it.

Drove up to SF to catch Kill Bill in 70mm. 7:30pm-12:20am is a crazy running time. I’m normally in bed before the intermission will start.

Finished this gem this morning. I love these short moody French mysteries.

Don’t laugh! I’ve been looking forward to this. They are performing the To Live and Die in LA soundtrack which is fantastic.

Who the hell is Dennis Russell Davies and why is he showing up in my listening history? Ohhh… he’s there because I play Philip Glass albums. I don’t often stream when I play music but even so this is a reasonable representation of my most heard for the year.

Excellent morning at the Legion of Honor and the Manet/Morisot exhibit. Hope to come back and see it again before it leaves.

Happy Thanksgiving! Made it out for an 8 mile hike this morning and will soon be headed to a friend’s house for an early dinner.

Started off the four day weekend by seeing Andy Bell which was fantastic even though I was exhausted after an 11 hour workday that started at 5am.

Finished Kurt Vonnegut’s Galapagos, which took a lot longer for me to read than it should have. Not sure what to make of this one.

Circling the mall parking lot for 30+ minutes trying to find a space is hell, but I made it just in time to see the new Knives Out, Wake Up Dead Man. Thought I was going to miss it.

My favorite movie theater is running Westerns for 3 months which holds no interest for me but I made it here tonight for a silent, The Winning of Barbara Worth. This lobby poster for The Unforgiven might tempt me back to see it next week.

“I already have the dead husband,” said the dude at the next table, with full confidence. Umm… what? Is he casting a play or am I overhearing something scandalous? Turns out he is directing a play. Darn it! I wanted to hear something more dramatic because my life is boring.

And now I’m waiting for David Byrne. It’s an event filled day!

In personal news, the small-ish company I worked for got acquired by a mega-corporation so things are changing. Just received a work badge which I haven’t needed for years. I still get to work from home… for now.
