Latest read: The Bridge of San Luis Rey. It’s great and there is a lot in there for only 106 pages. Evidently this is often taught in high school but I think I would have hated it at that age.

If you subscribe to the Criterion Channel you only have 2 days left to see this specific version of Eno before it changes in the new month. It’s wonderful.

It took me too long to understand that this advice applies to high tech too. I’m a terrible liar so it doesn’t work for me but it does help me understand why certain other people got promotions.

***Partial Drag Race Spoiler*** I’d be more excited about today’s Drag Race All Star bracket result if Morgan, who won 2 of her 3 challenges, was also allowed a tie win.

They are doing a Marilyn Monroe film festival this summer and tonight I watched Clash By Night for the first time. Amazing acting by almost everyone but the script, adapted from a play, was clunky.

My dad doesn’t believe in holidays so when he left home when I was in the first grade I don’t think he realized it was on Father’s Day (and it would not have made any difference to him anyway). Looking back 45 years later I think the timing was hilarious. But no, I’m not calling him today.

Feeling good for the first time in a week after suffering through a bad cold. Rewarding myself with a margarita may have helped boost my mood.

Remember in 2013 when this book was a runaway bestseller and placed front & center of every bookstore? I assumed it must have been great detective story but it was not. Or maybe it’s my fault for waiting 13 years before reading it. 🤷♂️

The new He-Man movie is good, actually. Don’t worry, I know nobody is going to agree with me. But it’s very 1980 Flash Gordon and includes many homages to it.

Terrible news. Giles is one of my favorite tv characters of all time. And before then he charmed me in a series of coffee ads as a complete unknown.

I stumbled across the original Airport on TCM and it’s surprisingly watchable. It’s fun to see how it inspired Airplane! which I’ve seen a million times.

I don’t read much Sci-Fi anymore, but I’m glad I read this one. I loved how it felt like a throwback to the old-school adventures but with a contemporary sensibility.

Tonight’s movie is Excalibur which has been on my list forever. How long is forever? I can still remember it being excitedly hyped by friends in my 4th grade playground when it came out because it has breasts and butts.

This is the filthiest book I’ve ever read and I’m only 100 pages in. I’m not mad (obviously) but I am surprised. This is the first book by Roth I’ve read so I presume I’m the last person to realize this about his work.
