I saw that Chris Evans was trending, clicked on it, and found a lot of cynical bitching. Good lord. I think I need to stop coming here for a little while. It's just constant bad news and stupid takes.

"The #1 movie when you were 10 years old is how your 2026 is going to go." I misread this and came up with The Exorcist first and thought, "Yeah, that tracks." But it's actually Return of the Jedi, which is way more optimistic than I expect or deserve.

I think a lot of people aren't reading the actual statement in this. A key point: Works that used LLMs at any point during the writing process must disclose this upon acceptance of the nomination, and the nature of the technology’s use will be made clear to voters on the final ballot.

I'm not going to link the vox article speculating that AI may be the key to generating new ideas. Ideas are cheap. Ideas are common. More important than the idea is the execution, regardless of field. We have already seen that what we're calling AI is not good at execution.

Once again, I have lost Whamageddon. I knew as soon I heard Mariah Carey on Melissa's playlist that I was doomed. Time of Wham: 12:17PM. This year, I never stood a chance.

Got a follow-up email from "Shannon Jain," the book marketing expert that messaged me a month or two ago. They sure are persistent. I still hate that they fed my stories to an LLM.

I use Notepad daily. A lot of times, I just need a simple editor to type some stuff in. If you're like me, you'll want to turn off Copilot there, too.

Melissa got a new blood sugar tester. Checked hers tonight and it was over 200 (bad). She tried mine, came back as 104 (good). To make her feel better(?) we used my blood pressure tester. Mine, 154/103 (bad), hers 123/87 (good). This is what getting old together looks like. At least for us.

I don't care if two grown men blow each other off, but I do care about the hypocrisy. And, if it's true, I can't think of anything that would unit the world more than the photo getting out. Can you imagine?

I don't know how you come out of an election result like Tuesday and then fold like wallet. I don't see how you can look at the major shift -- in your favor -- and then decide to unconditionally surrender.

I feel bad for Liz Cheney. I don't agree with her politics, but she showed integrity and character, and the GOP ousted her for it. Heaven or Hell, wherever her dad is going, I hope he doesn't shoot anyone in the face and make them apologize for it on the way there.
