I wrote a long essay about how social media and fandoms create a toxic cycle in which we cannot escape retreads of existing franchises. I use examples from Star Wars and Star Trek to support my argument.

I've interacted with Star Wars "fans" and Star Trek "fans" and I think that if both franchises quietly died, it would be fine. Really, really fine.

Sometimes I wake up with worthless bits of trivia on my mind. For example -- and I learned this one a long time ago -- if you take someone's small intestines AND their large intestines, and you lay it out in a straight line, that person will die.
