I probably should have mentioned that I'm at Baycon/Westercon in Santa Clara this weekend. I'll post my panel schedule and stuff soon. If you're here, come say Hi!

Is today the day where all the fine people named July wake up in jubilant celebration, or do they pull the blankets up and curse the next 31 days of their name being mispronounced "as a joke?"

Bryanna is back in the hospital. Pancreatitis again. Maybe still? She was only out a couple days. Gonna be another hard weekend.

It's been at least 24 hours and I'm still not seeing any signs of superpowers. I don't think that spider was radioactive enough.

They have Bryanna on an antibiotic that has. Brand name of Flagyl and when the nurse gave the generic name, I heard "Metroid needs it all." Turns out that's basically correct.

Another update on Bryanna, and some thoughts. She's still in the hospital, and they completed the MRI last night. She is producing gall stones, but her bowels are not blocked, so no endoscopy necessary.

I'm home. Bryanna will be staying at the hospital a few days. Pancreatitus, probably caused by the Ozempec. She is going to be okay.

At the emergency room for my daughter. She has severe abdominal pain, nausea, and her skin is clammy. Never been in this position before. Recording my thoughts here.

The predatory scammers impersonating publishing professional are getting more sophisticated. I received two more messages on my blog, one claiming to be Susanna Porter, the other Shana Drehs. 1/6

Melissa and I just got back from seeing Disclosure Day, and I had to talk about it. Unfortunately, I didn't want to give any spoilers, so here is a post where I talk about Glass instead.

I... uh... really need therapy. I'm a fucked up, broken man that is barely keeping his shit together. And I never make time to do anything about it. I'm taking vacation time tomorrow to try and correct this. Wish me luck.

When we see a corpse, we have a natural response of disgust, which is healthy. It looks human, but it's wrong. We get similar feelings of wrongness when looking at not-quite-human things. This is the Uncanny Valley. I wonder if AI slop will in time trigger that same sense of wrongness.

Gaming isnβt just a hobby for some people. Itβs an escape when life is difficult. A temporary distraction. A way to connect with friends across the world. Video games help more than some people think. Wish more people could see that.

Dear Scammers, Your attempts to get me to give you money are boring and a bit insulting. Here are some tips to make it more interesting for all of us. 1) Don't try to explain the book to the person that wrote it. We already know.

I keep seeing skeets suggesting Trump only fires women, which feels true and is perfectly in character. I, too, mostly forget about Greg Bovino, which tells me that my mental health is getting better. I look forward to the day when I can forget all of these assholes.

Here's an original essay in which I defend remakes. Some beloved movies, considered classics today, are actually remakes. I also get into the differences between reimaginings, retellings, and remakes, with examples.
