Alderperson Knudsen launched an ICE response toolkit, a living document that will continue to update based on what is happening on the ground. This toolkit aims to be a resource guide for people who are concerned about ICE’s abuses of power, and want to turn their frustration and anger into action.

This past week in City Council, we recognized the retirement of DePaul women’s basketball coach Doug Bruno. After 39 years, he led DePaul to win 786 games & compete in 25 NCAA Tournaments. Few people have done as much for women’s basketball as him. Thank you, Coach!

An Extreme Heat Watch has been issued by the National Weather Service in effect through midnight on Thursday, June 24 at 7 p.m. for the Chicagoland area due to extreme heat and humidity. Residents can expect dangerously hot conditions with heat index values up to 110˚.

Trebes Park is officially open! Following a $1.9 Million renovation, we could not be more excited to announce its opening, and that there will be a formal ribbon cutting ceremony on July 15th from 4-6 p.m. We hope to see you there!

As a bittersweet update for the 43rd Ward, this week Superintendent Marty Casey retired after 28 dedicated years of service to our city.

This past week, I have had the pleasure of welcoming 2 new businesses into the 43rd ward, Hotel Chocolat and Abrah Bakery! We celebrated these openings at the same time as many other storefront activations taking place throughout the ward.

While downtown this morning at City Hall, I was reminded that June is “Black Music Month.” Black Music Month is also known as “African American Music Appreciation Month” and was created in 1979 by then President Carter.

Last Friday, I joined U.S. Senator Dick Durbin and 43rd Ward business owners for a press conference fighting back against tariffs. As a collective, we raised the alarm on how increases to tariffs at the national level are quickly impacting their business operations and profitability.

Last week, the 19th Police District Council brought together all of the district’s alderpersons to discuss policy initiatives to improve public safety throughout the district, reduce the non-patrol responsibilities we rely on our police for, and invest in safety technology.
