I started Doctorow's new AI book & he frames the whole book with this "centaur" vs. "reverse centaur" distinction. "In automation theory ... a centaur is a person who is assisted by a machine" (p. 8) "A reverse centaur is a human who is conscripted into acting as an assistant to a machine" (p. 9)

Random AI-related thought that occurred to me while preparing for CAPAL: APA's AI citation guidance doesn't fit local models at all. It's so fascinating that "AI" became so conflated with the commercial frontier models from the jump.
