Gun rights create an equilibrium where assassinations are pretty easy. This is a tragedy, but to me it does seem like *the point*. Citizens can, at significant cost to themselves impinge lethal costs on the state. That's the point, right?

I know trans people who are a lot happier after transitioning. And even if they weren't, I think (after consideration, on their own dime) adults can change their bodies. And even if I didn't, I think all people should be able to work (and go to the loo) safely.

My challenge to reform voters: Why will your party succeed where others have failed? How will they avoid the incentive traps of do nothing, build nothing, cater to old people? What theories are you going to test? Are you actually gonna test them?

I've found @monzo's trend line a really useful way to spend less. If I am a bit above trend, I treat myself. If I am on or below trend I don't. I I've tried several ways to budget and giving myself a fixed monthly amount and using a chart is the most successful so far.

I think many problems are due to thoughtlessness. People not prioritising their thinking and so giving less time to important words or decisions.

One of the things I find moving about Schindler is that an ambiguous figure. A Nazi, many failed businesses. Not a paragon of virtue, perhaps instead a man who does what is right because he can't find it in himself to do otherwise. I find this an easier role model sometimes.

Why can't autonomous car companies just get insurance to be able to run in new cities? Why does it take months? Surely Tesla could be told that if they kill someone it's a $1 billion fine, if they act without regulation?

Tesla just got a $200 million court judgement for their Full Self Driving (Supervised) killing someone. The damages were punitive (in the technical sense). Seems fine. Tesla quite clearly could have been safer. Not sure that they should face billions for this, $10^7, sure.
