Comparing a 59% Leave seat with a 65% Leave one, it feels like whether to bring up Brexit or not's played a bigger role so far in Makerfield than North Shropshire (with clear differences: time's moved on; return of Trump; Labour gov't vs LD opposition; way Paterson vs Simons left).

London's had goes; I'd rather see it go elsewhere in the UK (Birmingham and Glasgow having had Commonwealth Games means I'd be against them to spread events out further, but it's a point in their favour if infrastructure can be made / is already fit).

How many younger ex-MPs than Josh Simons have there been since 1945? He's definitely not the youngest, as he's resigning at 32. Mhairi Black was 29 and Dehenna Davison 30 at dissolution of the 2019-24 parliament. Maybe the youngest postwar MP to have resigned outside a general election?

That's (at least the first) Reform's, Labour's and Lib Dems' by-election leaflets through. None yet from the Conservatives, who held the ward and predecessors from 2003 to 2023.
