Bad day, but the cats are sweet. Max was a good boy about the litter box overnight . Josie threw a fit over her food that she's liked for a week.

Max has been having a string of good days with only one dementia day this last week. He's asked to cuddle, I've been working with him on litter box retraining and making the box tough to hang out of or only go halfway in. He actually showed up to sleep on his fleece mat on the bed the last few days

Oh, the millet congee with jujubes is so good. The infused honey and white miso just adds so much flavor. I added a bit of shredded ginger, too.

Channeling Zhang Ping the Noodle Detective and making millet jujube congee in my rice cooker for breakfast tomorrow. I added a little white miso & some tumeric and ginger infused honey. My thrift store luck gave me a Zojirushi Neurofuzzy rice cooker for $10 several years ago, which makes this easy.

I found a vet who can help today. I can text and schedule it the next day after a confirmation exam. I can have Josie present too so we can all say goodbye when it's time. He had a great day today where he played with and cuddled Josie,but the fact it's easy and quick to schedule gives me peace.

Jujubes were available at the Asian market today and now I can make sweet congee.

Max has let me know. This hurts. The only vets who answered charge anywhere from $500 to $700 and they're not close by. I need the other vet hospitals and pet organizations to answer the phone or respond to my messages because they're more affordable and have mobile services.

Dear streaming services, stop putting a tag declaring what language a character is speaking over the translated text showing what they're saying. It often stays there the entire time, blocking important information. Put it right above the translation. You can do better.

If you're gluten free, I highly recommend Siete's cookies. The Mexican shortbread and Mexican Wedding cookies are so good and surprisingly affordable for GF. They're also not greasy or overly sweet like many store bought GF cookies are.

Max had a bath. He really needed one. He doesn't mind. He had his first one when I brought him home to foster and he was filthy and burned. Now it's just part of our routine althoughl Josie prances and gloats while standing on the edge of the tub, because she doesn't need a bath. 🤣

Today, I caught up on sleep. I had a mild migraine and a mild Crohn's flare. My cats kept me company, but I can see Max is declining further. It's not going to be long now. Ugh.

Well,the fever is gone, but I'm really tired after dealing with it. No more soreness in the Covid shot arm, either. Nurse Josie cat wants to sit with me while I watch TV like a zombie. Max is asleep in his guitar rack fort.

Well, maybe I should have split the vaccines up into 2 at a time instead of 4 at once. I have a fever, probably from the MMR or Tdap and an extremely sore left arm from the Covid vax. I am going to bed. Hope I feel better tomorrow. Hope you all are staying safe and doing OK.

All vaxxed. I didn't get a microchip or an embedded QR code for Satan or any of that ridiculous stuff people claim about the covid vaccine. I didn't even get X-Men mutant powers.

They had gluten free coffee flavored shokupan slices at Grocery Outlet this morning. Of course I had to buy some. It wasn't as fluffy as I remember the wheat shokupan being,but it was still reasonably soft and delicious.

This morning, Max didn't recognize me or Josie. This afternoon, he did recognize us and acted like normal. I decided that he will be spoiled until Monday, and I'll call the mobile vet then if he continues like this. He's had two major accidents near his litterbox and he isn't eating as much. 💔

My sweet cat Max is in rapid decline. He has dementia and has forgotten who Josie is several times. Poor Josie is confused as to why her bestie is sometimes terrified of her. I wish I could have a talk about dementia with her. Once he has more bad days than good, I have to make a call. I dread it.

I don't wear much makeup, my nails often look horrendous and covered with ink and paint stains, I live in jeans and graphic t shirts, but I really like skin care.

Well, I've reached the era where they play music I like at the grocery store and pharmacy.

I made carnitas for dinner. I like them with roasted chipotle peppers and lots of fresh vegetables. Tonight was fresh sungold tomatoes, microgreens and radishes. I put them on hatch chili pepper corn tortillas that I made a while ago and froze for later use. It was really good.

Having a day where my curls look like terrible white girl dreads, which in reality are just matted hair. Honestly, I did run a comb through it when it was wet, but it sure as hell doesn't look like it.

I'm so glad my new neighbors took my recommendation and visited my fave coffee spot. Rarely does anyone listen to me unless we're actually friends. Maybe I look too menacing or something, despite sounding like an excitable teenager when I talk.

I bought a double mint plant, which is a cross between spearmint and peppermint and a rhubarb plant because I love rhubarb. I just planted both of them. The rhubarb has mostly shade, the mint has partial sun. I wish I had more space, although I have 30 plants currently.

And here's Max. He and Josie switched places. He's my sweet old guy. 18 years old with a rather derpy, endearing personality and so much love to give. He's really gentle. His takes most meds well, and he's good with nail trims. He requires pee pads around the litter box now, but we work with it.

Grapes! These are Muscat grapes from a start I bought at the farmers' market 6 years ago. My vines are huge now. This is about 1/3 of the grapes growing now. Some of them aren't quite ready yet. They aren't seedless, but their flavor is worth spitting out a couple of seeds. This is a 64 oz bowl.

I walked to the store today to see if I could do it. It was supposed to be a 3.5 mile round trip. Instead, it was just under five miles because of road detours. I did it, but most of the walk was unpleasant except for my own neighborhood. Miles of shopping centers really isn't picturesque.

I've been enjoying the cloudy mid-80s weather. Some people here are sad it isn't in the 100s. I can tell I'm still a PNW person at heart because I hate hot summers. I'm also very pale and freckled, so I feel vaguely greasy the whole season from all the sunblock.

Max has become a glutton again. He goes through periods of decline and then rallies. Josie's become picky yet again. I have 3 cases of food I can't return that she now hates but loved a week ago.

I bought Churu wet cat food to dump in Max's high protein cat food because both cats decided that they hate their current food after I just got a Chewy delivery of it. Max ate all of his food with the Churu added. Josie will eventually get hungry and ask for food. They will do anything for Churu.

Max is starting to decline. He's calm but very slow and hiding. He isn't eating much, and that cat can eat. I did get him to eat a Churu earlier but that's it. Josie is being extra gentle with him and not chasing or play fighting. I'm watching him to know when it's probably time. I hate this.

Well, I went out to water my plants and take out my trash wearing a respirator that made me look like I was a Borderlands character to avoid asthma issues with the 120 AQ. My mean neighbor likes to gossip about me, might as well give her some real gossip.

We have a smoke warning today. I have to take the trash out and water my garden.

I cleaned and started up my barbecue today for dinner. It was a little awkward because my balance is a bit wonky and I lost a piece of a burger and a couple of squash pieces that I made kebabs with but nothing major.

I've been trying to use a hair dryer with a diffuser with my curls to give my hair more body, and it does two annoying things: Straightens the curls at the roots and gives me ringlets. My bangs didn't want to curl correctly either. Is this just what a diffuser does? If so, I'm not feeling it.

Josie cat is wild today. She's chasing Max, biting my hand, she refuses to play with me (which she usually loves), she keeps climbing on my coffee table, she broke a mug and she's really grouchy about getting caught. 🤪

Josie was crying. I couldn't figure out what she wanted. Turns out she really wanted me to read to her.

Well, I had a proper celiac test done and now I have a blistering rash on my cheeks, under my arms and on the back of my legs. I took photos to send to the gastroenterologist. Ugh.

I'm watching very sappy queer romance movies. I don't know why except that I'm in a mood, some members of my family are trying to "pray the gay/bi/trans away" from some of us and encourage other family members to do so, and I miss my PNW friends very much. I'll be fine, this is why I'm estranged.

I'm stunned. My bread is fine after me forgetting to add the water. It's much smaller than it should be, but the crumb is normal and the crust is crispy. What the hell? It shouldn't be ok, yet it is.

When I'm sad, angry, or scared, I like to bake. However, in true Aquarian distraction mode, I forgot the damn water when I combined the starter and the rest of the bread ingredients. And GF flour is pricey. So I currently have a loaf in the oven, which is probably going to resemble hardtack. 🤣
