“If you’re that hesitant about it you might as well give up now. It doesn’t sound like you actually have very much resolve. I don’t particularly care either way what you do. But I have to admit my curiosity about how something like that could be dangerous.”

“Are you trying to announce your resolution? It’s pointless if you have no confidence in it.”

Piano glares at the bird, before stepping away from it to rummage through some supplies. She comes back with a power drill, pressing the button a few times to make it whirr. “Maybe I should check for internal damages now.”

“Haven’t seen him in awhile. Wonder if father finally got fed up with him?” Piano polishes off some of the scratches from the bird’s exterior. “Just as I’m nearing getting fed up with you.”

“No. I was talking about Reggae. He is not a ‘Birdbot’ but he is a bird based robot. Both of you can be awfully loud and annoying.”

Piano examines the Birdbot’s condition. Mostly seemed to be cosmetic damages. Probably nothing internal. Too bad. She wanted to open this thing up. . . . Maybe she still would if it kept up the attitude. She pulls out a dust rag and begins cleaning the ash off the grumpy bot.

“Quit being so loud or I swear I’ll have every single weaponized bot in here treat you as an uninvited guest.” She takes out a large toolbox, setting it on a nearby table with a loud THUD! Lots of stuff in there.

“Stop that. You’re going to damage yourself further.” She grabs it by one of its wings and begins dragging it off to her workspace. “Stupid bird.”

“. . . Are you trying to mock me? The volume wasn’t the only issue. Obviously.”

Staring at the Birdbot, deadpan. “Are you serious? I said politely. Not louder.”

“That didn’t sound any nicer, now did it? Ask politely and I’ll begin your repairs. It’s not difficult. Unless it’s somehow too complex for your birdbrain to comprehend?”

Piano crosses her arms. “I may have changed my mind. Your manners are terrible. Ask me nicely and I’ll reconsider.”

“I wouldn’t be so stupid as to lend my enemy an explosive. I guess you do look pretty simpleminded, so I’m not surprised.”

A small smirk appears on Piano’s face. “Your own weapon was used against you? How embarrassing.”

“Birdbrain.” She’s wondering why she made this offer in the first place. Ah. Right. Reggae. She’s also beginning to understand the irritation her father has with that bird. “How did you end up in your current state anyways?”

“Put your wing down or I really will dismantle you.”

“Idiot.” 💢 The two eventually make it to their destination, trading plenty of insults along the way surely. “Don’t touch anything.”

“. . . Stupid bird.” Piano begins leading it in the direction of Wily Castle.

“. . . Just follow me.”

. . . . . . She did not think it would change its mind that easily. Stupid bird. Piano was being sincere, though. Didn’t plan on dismantling it, not yet at least. “Not a smart idea to insult the one who will be handling your repairs.”

“I think you’re stupid. Stupid enough to turn down a free repair offer. I’ll collect your debris whenever you collapse from your damages instead. I’ll make you into something useful then.”

Piano really didn’t want to bother with chasing the thing. But she was at least a little intrigued by it, especially because of the timing that it happened to appear at. She was also curious about how it ended up in that state in the first place. “Do you want repairs?” She calls after it.

“I will give you one more chance to change your attitude. Only because you remind me of. . . a friend. You should take it.” This thing really was similar to Reggae, temperament and all.

“Ah. You’re much more lively after that.” The fish thing again? She didn’t get it. “It would be smart to treat me with a little more respect. You’re clearly damaged.”

. . . Incredible timing. She stares at the Birdbot. It was pretty pathetic looking in this state. “Are you broken? I could dismantle you and give what’s left to father to use in future projects. .”

Thinking about Reggae, for some reason. Annoying little bird but she’s still fond of him.
