You know alt text matters. You've maybe even started writing in plain language. However, knowing the basics (and beyond) and actually putting them into practice in your day-to-day work? That's a whole different ball game. And that's exactly where I want to help you next. On March 28, I'm partnering with IABC/Toronto to host a full-day Accessible Communications Bootcamp in Toronto, and we are rolling up our sleeves and getting into it together. We're walking through accessible Word documents, PowerPoints, and PDFs step by step. We're tackling social media, content design, vendor questions, and all those "but what do I do when..." moments you've been sitting with. No fluff. No theory for the sake of theory. Just real, practical tools you can take back to your team on Monday morning. Here's what the day looks like: Morning session (9 a.m. to 12 p.m.): • Applying plain language and disability justice to compliance requirements • What legislation looks like in practice • Accessibility in everyday content and design • Hands-on social media accessibility work Afternoon session (1 to 4 p.m.): • Accessible Word and PowerPoint documents • Accessible PDFs: tagging, testing, and remediation • Questions to ask your vendors about accessibility • A question and answer period at the end Every participant leaves with a recognition certificate AND a copy of my brand-new book, Accessible Communications.
