I love sharing niche info. Because I sunburn so easily, I track the UVB index. This is also the wavelength that enables Vitamin D production. In winter, because of the longer distance through the atmosphere caused by the tilt of the earth, UVB does not reach Portland. Today it does for 1hr.

Happy new year! My all sky camera imaged the sky every 15 seconds and this picture shows what happened in the sky in 2025. It shows the length of the night and day with the hourglass shape, the monthly lunar cycle with the diagonal bands, the elevation of the Sun at local noon, and lots of clouds.

Sigh, we could have continued to invest in solar power, instead we have this nonsense.
