$80 for Mario Kart. GTA6 probably $100. Meanwhile indies still going for $1-$20, AA for $30. Right now what's REALLY lacking is indie visibility. Media & creators gave up on covering indies a while ago, too overwhelming. There are great games, players just dunno how to find them.

Since Godot, the engine, runs in the Godot Runtime, this means Godot is a Godot game. Therefore it stands to reason that when you make a game in Godot, you are in fact playing a game development simulator game, but one that realistically reflects the income potential of the games industry.

Also, is anyone else in the same boat of... preferring an oldschool publishing deal that pays a couple thousand bucks every other week as long as there's tangible progress, rather than one gigantic up-front lump sum? I feel like some weeks have surprise budget needs & some are much cheaper.

Any time I write up a budget I'm like, "Damn, that's a tall ask, nobody's going to pay for this." Then I remember publishers are currently spending half a billion dollars on games just to pull them from market after a couple weeks, so maybe needing under $100k isn't so ridiculous after all.

So... this was surprisingly easy to get working. I mean sure it's still all in one script but it can only ever be in one state at a time so... that counts, right? Also I recommend you name your enums with the number of the int value so you don't lose track of where you are in the dropdown. #godot

Ending the year by picking at enemy AI in my Godot project. I still can't wrap my head around a Node-based state machine where you swap to different Nodes that control the code depending on the state, so I'm just going with an enumerator state machine instead. Seems to be the preferred approach too.

I'm curious what a Netscape Communicator style of web browser would look like in today's internet. I'm talking about a browser that also doubles as an IDE. It was easy back in the day cuz all you needed was HTML. But now? CSS. Javascript. PHP. React. Vue. Web apps. Video. AI! Too much to mention.

Today was one of those rare days in game development where things just... clicked. New code worked. Sounds sounded great. Even made a couple friends' jaws drop when I showed them the results. Still not sharing anything publicly, but I'm not even a year into this project and I can FEEL it forming.

Does anyone have any tricks for making an animation only play once in Godot's AnimationPlayer? I've found no matter what I do it just loops or bounces. I would absolutely die for a dedicated "one-shot" mode.
