🚨 Two-thirds of residents oppose Local Government Re-Organisation 🚨 Thank you to everyone who completed my survey on proposals for Local Government Re-Organisation. The results showed clear opposition to proposals to abolish District Councils, replacing them with larger Unitary Councils.

Whissendine is regularly one of our worst-affected villages by flooding, that’s why my team met with the Landlady of the White Horse Inn and residents to discuss what additional support and mitigation works are needed up and down the stream to further protect the village from devastating floods.

Last week I wrote to the Leader of Lincolnshire County Council asking him to reverse the decision to exclude Stamford from planned consultation events on Local Govt Re-Organisation. I am relieved the Leader has listened to my concerns, and as a result an event will now be held on 24th September.

It’s exciting to see the roof is on Houghton on the Hill's new pavilion! After working with the team and supporting their bid for Community Ownership Funding by raising it with the Government, I was delighted the Association was successfully awarded £231,000 at the end of 2023.

Following my petitioning of National Highways, I’m relieved work will begin this week on the first 13 central reservation closures between Little Ponton and Colsterworth. To close the gaps, overnight lane closures will be in place from today until Tuesday 19 August, 8pm to 6am, Mondays to Fridays.

✅ Over 1,500 passengers have used Rutland’s new on-demand bus service in its first two months! Thanks to a share of the £23.7m Levelling Up Funding I secured with the then Conservative-led Rutland County Council, the service will be fully rolled out across the whole of Rutland next month I hope!

It’s great news Casterton College has reached the next milestone in their rebuild! Survey work is due to be undertaken during the Summer holidays, with a view to building work starting during the next academic year.

NEWS: Funding Boost for Uppingham Surgery and Colsterworth Medical Practice 🏥 It’s good news our Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland Integrated Care Board (ICB) is boosting funding to the Uppingham Surgery and Colsterworth Medical Practice to further modernise services.

It’s wonderful news Dementia Support South Lincolnshire has received over £200,000 from The National Lottery Community Fund! I am so pleased they have secured this significant grant which will provide 3 years of funding to continue their invaluable services, and also explore exciting new ones.

On the anniversary of the Normandy D-Day landings we remember the extraordinary bravery of those who served and sacrificed for our nation. We remember them, and must stand united in our support and appreciation for our incredible heroes. Your service must never be forgotten.

The final consultation on two of the A1 central reservation crossings proposed to close has now finished, meaning we have the final go-ahead for work to start in July! Larger gaps are being considered for closure in the next phase of the review of all central reservation crossings I secured.

Looking back to May when I held Rutland and Stamford's first Disability Forum ⬇️ Following the Forum I have been working on your useful feedback, encouraging local bodies to tackle some of the issues raised so we can improve the experience of those living with a disability locally.

Rutland’s Great Dementia Conversation was supported by so many wonderful organisations, businesses and individuals. This included Stephen Fry, our launch by John and Nula Suchet just over a year ago, and an afternoon with national treasure Angela Rippon and a panel of national dementia experts.

A month ago, Rutland County Council backtracked on cutting our black bin collections to only once every three weeks 🚯 I’m relieved residents prevailed, and the pressure of our petition with over 2,000 signatures helped save Rutland’s fortnightly bin collections.

13 A1 central reservation crossings have now been proposed for closing, rather than the original 11 planned. Gaps 41 and 44 on the map are still subject to consultation, but if all goes as planned work on the crossings should get underway in July once the safety upgrades I secured are completed.

Lovely to catch up with Cllr Kelham Cooke to discuss his recent success securing rising bollards on Stamford High Street in the coming months. Kelham has worked hard to secure the funding needed, as well as revising the old traffic regulation order which had to go through a consultation.

I recently met the Leader and Chief Executive of SKDC to discuss Local Government Re-Organisation proposals, the public meeting I held, stopping the Stink in Corby Glen, Anglian Water’s pipeline programme, and securing compensation for communities affected by Mallard Pass Solar Plant.

28 years to the day since Rutland regained its independence from Leicestershire, our petition to save Rutland’s ceremonial county status comes to a close. This is without a doubt one of the biggest wet-signature petitions Parliament has received in the 21st Century! Thank you for all your support.
