His furry family included Tom, Jerry, Tiffany, Dorothy, Delilah, Goliath, Lily, Miko, Oscar, and Romeo. Most were rescues, and they lived luxuriously at his Garden Lodge home in Kensington

Fred's quilt is beautifully made and quilted: you can clearly see from how beautifully made it is, how much it meant to him. Fred finished his quilt in late 1989 really just before he fell seriously ill as mentioned above towards his latter days, he would wrap the quilt around him like a magic cape.

Fred was a true lover of nature, his favourite flower being the rose and this is depicted in the quilt. Fred also included an old American Civil War custom of yellow ribbons to remind us that those people no longer with us but still remembered...

Fred saw an article in Body Positive requesting quilts and decided that he would do one commemorating the friends he had lost during his time at AIDS Line West Midlands. Fred worked feverishly over his quilt. He would take it with his during his hospital stays...

On the right side of the panel, you can find the quilt made by Fred Hepple in memory of his four friends, David, Brian, Peter and Ian. The quilt was then donated to the UK Quilt project. Fred adored his quilt, and would wrap it about himself, referring to it as a ‘magic cape.’ ...

At the top left of the panel, there are a few more clues to this person's story. We have a name: Jamie Fraser. We have the names of some of his loved ones, who signed his quilt.

There is not a lot we can say for sure about some of the panels on this quilt. This is for a few reasons: Stigma: Many families were ostracized or chose to hide the cause of death, leading to anonymous submissions to avoid social prejudice.

Textile art that demands you look closer. 👁️🖤 Michele Walker's House Block is the second quilt she created in response to street graffiti regarding the homeless community in Brighton.

Can materials tell a story before you even read the words? In Michele Walker’s House Block, the medium is entirely part of the message. Part of The Quilters' Guild Nineties Collection, this piece was commissioned and presented by retiring Trustees Jan Hale, Rachel Nichols, & George Clements in 1999.
