My statement on Trump’s attacks on Iran:

My office provided the vital intelligence and manpower for investigations into President Trump’s retention of classified documents and efforts to overturn the 2020 election. That work may have gotten sidelined, but my commitment to justice has not.

I’ve spent my career confronting terrorism, violent crime, and corruption. Public safety has been my life’s work. I’ll bring that experience to Congress to keep our communities safe.

I was raised by a local community leader and an engineering professor who taught me that hard work, integrity, and community come first. Public service has always been a part of who I am.

When the Trump Administration fired me in January 2025 after 20+ years of service at the FBI, I knew my work wasn't done. Now I'm looking to serve my country in a new way—as the Congressman for Maryland's 5th District.

The agents and analysts Kash Patel fired yesterday worked for me. These agents took an oath to the Constitution, not a political agenda. MD-05 is home to many public servants who keep this nation safe. I won’t stand by while their careers & our economic stability are used for political retribution.

When I go to Congress, I can provide the oversight and rebuilding of federal agencies to protect them from easy weaponization against the American people.

No one is above the law—not politicians, not powerful insiders, not anyone. That's how I operated at the FBI and that's how I'll operate in Congress.
