There are therapists who will work with people on moderating alcohol/drug consumption. If they can succeed with moderating, great. Many can't and trying to moderate can be part of the process of realizing this, while improving health in the meanwhile through lowered consumption.

If notable cravings don't resolve in a reasonable period of time, I suggest doing an analysis as to what's causing them. Unmet emotional needs? Untreated or undertreated mental health disorders? Dissatisfaction with your current life? Just as possible examples.
