Well, this felt awkward! Have you ever had a ride stall right at the thrilling climax? We stopped under Indy for what seemed like an eternity. Sure, it was like 20 seconds, but still! Honestly, we kind of love oddball breakdowns; anything out of the norm is a win!

Does anyone recall this scene from Body Wars explaining how guests will be miniaturized much smaller than “the point of a pin?” We may love the world-building stuff more than the actual rides, especially this one!

Does a volcano trump a castle? Castles are cool and all, but volcanoes explode, spewing out geysers of fire! Tokyo DisneySea may just have the greatest park icon of all!

Rapunzel has returned to Tokyo DisneySea, barely a week after being removed, because Japan is Japan and stuff just works there. A clever solution (monofilament not seen from the guests’ distance) wards off the birds. How long would she be missing if this was in the U.S.?

Chandu is the most famous Disney character you’ve never heard of. He’s like EPCOT’s Figment in that he’s only featured in one ride in one park, fans love him, and yet Disney fails to capitalize on his popularity. Could Chandu work stateside?

The Sleeping Beauty Castle Walkthrough is one of those small, quiet, and charming attractions that Disneyland in particular still holds on to. Many modern guests simply don’t care, but some do; we know some do, right?!

Most of today’s guests just never had a chance to see this, yet it still sits unused to this day. Wonders of Life was always just a bit out of place among the original EPCOT pavilions, but isn’t there some way to use it today? Come on, it’s so cool.

Sinbad’s Storybook Voyage is full of charm, whimsy and amazing music, but did you know Alan Menken (yes, THAT Alan Menken) composed it? The lyrics are by Glenn Slater. It’s performed in Japanese on the ride, but here is Alan himself singing it in English! Why can’t we have this?!

Do you enjoy back pain? How about a snapped neck? The WWII torture device known as Mulholland Madness was basically the same as the defunct Primeval Whirl. We are not fans, but if you are, you can still endure it today; now it’s called Goofy’s Sky School. Good luck with that!

What an amazing shot from an amazing time at Walt Disney World! Two of these three attractions are gone, and the remaining one has been altered in numerous ways. Did you get to experience any of them?

Just a reminder of how awesome the Countdown to Extinction (Dinosaur) animatronics actually were. The incoming Indiana Jones attraction may be great; we are rooting for it, but does anyone really think it will have multiple animatronics anywhere near this scale? Fingers crossed!

In a shocking stunner, Disney CEO Josh D'Amaro is out, and two-time former CEO Bob Iger is once again heading Disney. D’Amaro now becomes the shortest tenured CEO in Disney history. Iger appears set to be CEO for life. You really just can’t make this stuff up!

The studio arch started as an ornate gateway to the animation courtyard in the early days of Disney-MGM Studios. It slowly got simplified before being removed altogether. But have you ever seen it fully decorated? They rarely gussied it up seasonally or for big premieres.

The Disney trains are iconic; they add tremendous ambiance (just listen to the piped-in jungle sounds!) and practicality to the parks. They are also the type of expensive detail that likely would not be built today. Do you utilize them, or are they just wasteful window dressing?

We have to admit, this type of interactive encounter on attractions sort of freaks us out. We are being watched! How about you? Remember when interactivity was the next big thing for Disney? Whatever happened to all that?!

What do you think of smaller-scale atmospheric attractions? The Aquatopia, for example, has no IP at all, but it adds tremendous kinetic energy to the area. Even if you just walk past it, you still benefit from its existence.

Did you even know that Magic Kingdom has rolling hills? The trees have grown so high that you can’t even see the castle today, but the hills are still under there! It’s one of many views now gone forever.

20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (and the Sub Voyage in Disneyland) are the only Disney rides where park guests could only see the cast members’ legs! People grabbed them, clumsily looked up, or even attempted to go up into the “sail” with the driver. Can you say AWKWARD!

Are you a fan of Disney’s old-school dark rides? You know, the stuff you find in Fantasyland? Shanghai Disneyland’s version of Peter Pan brilliantly updates the OG feel while maintaining 100% of its charm. It’s uniquely Disney; we could use more of it.

Tokyo Disneyland is building a next-gen Space Mountain, but take a look at the original Magic Kingdom concept art. The new one may actually be closer to the original vision! Should Space Mountain 2.0 come stateside, or is the OG untouchable?

Disney has a long history of cool elevators. This one takes you to “The Center of the Earth” while actually moving up. Sounds, lighting, vibration, and even humidity are at play. Is there a better-themed elevator out there? Well, we can think of maybe one!

Before IG, TikTok, or even selfies, this location was the must-do photo op in all of EPCOT. It still sits abandoned to this day. Can you imagine how fans would go nuts if Disney reopened it? Did you get to see it?

This statue of a hadrosaurs sat tucked away in Animal Kingdom for decades, but we wonder what his backstory is. The Dinoland sculptures are real works of art, often crafted by known and respected creators. Did you ever snap a selfie with him? We hope he was saved.

Custom animation and animatronics for a counter-service pizza place in a theme park? “Only in Japan” is real, and it’s amazing! Do you know EXACTLY where it is?

These crazy carnosaur costumes once roamed Dinoland, but how many guests understood their backstory? Did they simply appear as garish, cheaply made costumes? Or did the average Joe manage to connect the dots and piece together the overarching premise? For that matter, did you?

Could Mystic Manor be Disney’s most unique attraction? Who wants something like this stateside?

Space Ship Earth once had an animated horse and chariot racing down the streets of Rome. You didn't imagine it; it was real. The true reason it disappeared is a mystery. Perhaps the switch to digital projection made it look bad? But do you miss the little losses as much as we do?

Did you know that Disney’s Haunted Mansion has a secret safety trick? The “stone” wall by the unload ramp is actually made of foam rubber, so no bumped heads or lawsuits here. Have you ever touched it on your way out? We bet you will next time!

Only nerds listen to theme park music for fun, right? WRONG! “Another Part of Me” was featured in Captain EO a year prior to its release on Michael Jackson’s “Bad” album. So the entire world was actually listening to nerdy theme park music in ‘87. We still do, how about you?

This giant unadorned stone wall used to be plainly visible in the Magic Kingdom. It’s still there today, only now it’s mostly out of sight. Do you know where it is and what’s different about it today?

Mystic Manor takes the Haunted Mansion’s Medusa and turbocharges her with 3-D animation and a jump scare. But is this effect better than the classic Marc Davis original?

Remember Seasons of the Vine? It opened at Disney’s California Adventure, back when it was about food and booze and less about rides (you know, like World Showcase now is). The film about wine-making flopped, but it was eventually moved to EPCOT, where it always should have been.

Disney used to enforce a strict grooming code known as "The Disney Look". Employees had short hair, no facial hair, no tattoos, and men could not have any piercings. Times have changed. Do you miss the clean-cut days of yore, or was that just anachronistic, outdated mumbo-jumbo?

Have you ever heard of “Big Grizzly Mountain Runaway Mine Cars”? It’s Disney’s weirdest mash-up, and perhaps its worst name. Part Big Thunder, part Expedition Everest, with a sprinkle of Country Bears for fun. It’s a little redundant and certainly odd, but would you give it a go?

Sometimes Disney’s theming is better than the actual ride! Where is this?

Imagine a giant cannon that recoils, belches out a huge plume of smoke while bellowing a tremendous BOOM, then hurls guests into the total darkness of space. Now imagine shutting it off, or simply not fixing it. Why? Were you lucky enough to witness its full glory?

You will never be as bad-ass as this Disney LEGEND! Are you cool enough to ride Splash Mountain in a suit? Respect.

Remember when virtually every pavilion in EPCOT was a giant, multi-attraction adventure that took hours? They were so big that you needed a map! Some of that idea is still around today, but nowhere to the degree that the originals were.

Skeletons can’t just magically transform into three-dimensional animatronic figures, right? Despite what our brains tell us, it indeed happens right before our eyes. It’s one of Disney’s greatest modern illusions, but do you have any idea how they pulled this off?

The sword fight is one of Paris’ Pirates of the Caribbean’s most iconic moments. Originally, the swords made contact with each other. With each refurb, they drift further apart. Clank, clank, clank! Are they playing it a little too safe, or does this still impress you today?

Remember that time in 2015 when Disney tried to make you eat poo? The giraffe scat was especially accurate, you could also try tamarin, elephant or hippo dung. This was a real thing.
