We need to appreciate the rugged weather of our beautiful island. The endless spring rains, the daunting snowstorms, even the disgusting gusting winds that whip the face off you, and drive rain uphill. These natural elements are the earth's force of beauty. We will miss Gaia when she's alone.

Green roof update! Last year we pulled up all the weeds and grass (as we initially let it go wild) and mulched the entire surface. Then we sowed it with a wildflower mix. The poppies are a real treat. (About one quarter of the house is subterranean. Yep. We live under that.)
