There is a growing cohort of adults who think any art or media that doesn't cater to their specific preferences has failed in its purpose, and we should be meaner to them.

we need to bring back “web-surfing.” people don’t surf the web anymore in any meaningful sense, because the internet has been colonized into captive platforms and endless scroll algo-slop. refuse the “safety” of the feed! bring back the joy of information anarchy, unexpected encounters & discovery

Praying for Rudy Giuliani. Complicated man, but he taught me that marriage and family don't mean anything. You can just do whatever you want. Humiliate and lie to everyone you're supposed to love whenever you want, or are bored. Honestly fuck them. Also he taught me everything else is like that too.

White train travelers and railway workers clamored for the cooking of these Black women, made them breadwinners, and then racism and stupidity inevitably twisted that into “lol those Negroes sure do love their fried chicken.” No, my dude, YOU love it. And you still do.

Also: the stereotype about Black people and fried chicken came about because, post-slavery, so many Black women successfully supported themselves and their families by selling homemade fried chicken to white people at train stations. It was one of the few lucrative jobs open to the newly free.

Developers want to build 51 data warehouses, each the size of a Walmart Supercenter, in a Pennsylvania town of just 7,000. And they are refusing to tell the community what technology firms will occupy the buildings. Is it any wonder why a nationwide backlash against AI data centers is brewing?

A town of 7,000 planned so many data centers, it’s like adding 51 Walmarts
Developers plan to build six sprawling data center campuses in Archbald, Pennsylvania, covering about 14 percent of the town’s land. Residents are fighting back.

I think we could do with a little less "Don't worry, I'm allowed to make this art because I'm traumatized in these ways." and a lot more "Don't worry, I'm allowed to make this art because I'm allowed to make any art. And also, it's none of your fucking business whether or not I am traumatized."

Orbán's electoral crushing is a far greater achievement than most people outside Hungary realise. He systemically consolidated power for 16 years, fixed the electoral map, abused govt power for political purposes & censored media. The hurdles that Hungarians overcame for this moment were immense.

Less than a week ago, there were several prominent voices on here saying that they were sure Orbán was going to cancel Hungary's election. And casting that as a preview of coming horrors here in the States. Well, Hungary had its vote, Orbán lost in a landslide, and he's conceded.
