We are putting together an initial batch of these (25 pcs) and they should be ready in about 6-8 weeks depending on suppliers; barring last minute fuckups. We're looking for people who would be interested in playing with them; but who can also afford to support the project. 🧵

Couple years ago I went to Japan for cherry blossom season. Weather was crap, season delayed a few weeks, totally missed it. 2 years later, Imma make cherry blossom season at home 😋🌸

Can someone recommend me a rigid box manufacturer for Dark Bio? Seems making a square box, with 2.5mm wall thickness, that doesn't fall apart is arcane magic nowadays. The manufacturer I wanted to collab with just flipped the table on me for saying 2.3mm vs 2.5mm is inaccurate.

Hey Claude, can you isolate this 3 liner fix into a new branch? Claude: Sure! `git stash && git checkout && git stash pop && git checkout --` And that is how I lost an hour of work.

Well, fuck Anthropic. I've bought a 3 month Claude Max sub to a friend as a gift. Sent it to them. 10 days later, their gift is GONE from their account. No trace whatsoever. I go to Anthropic to request a refund: - I can't it's not my gift. - They can't, it doesn't exist.

Is using AI to generate compliance docs sane? Nope. But is *not* using AI to write compliance docs sane? Also nope. Behold, the text below is Irish (or more accurately, Gaelic). Important stuff to be legal in the European Union!

You've heard of "fractional-reserve banking", but have you heard of "fractional-reserve PCBs"?
@jlcpcb.bsky.social
contacted me that that the components they sold me a month ago, which I now need for a PCB assembly... don't... actually exist. Order delayed by 1 month.

Oxford Nanopore: Hey, so we're discontinuing our $10K `P2 Solo` sequencing device, because it doesn't have an integrated GPU and is annoying to use. But worry not, we have `P2 Integrated` out, which is exactly the same with with a GPU in the box! It's $100K.

Ran into the weirdest issue with ordering 3D prints. The pieces are *larger* than my model =) Turns out JLC is compensating for material shrinkage, but they are overdoing it, so now I need to compensate for JLC's compensation algorithms. House of cards... 🤪

Trust, but verify! The Dark Bio firmware and device signing keys are hardware bound to genuine YubiHSM and YubiKey devices. Furthermore, the public audit logs demonstrate (within the limits of the YubiHSM 2 capabilities) that no malicious firmware exists.

In December I was quoted $4000 for a batch of eMMC chips. I didn't want to commit because I wasn't yet sure if they are large enough (128GB; it would be better to have 256GB). Today's quote is $32000. I can't afford that for my project. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Me in December: Hmm, storage chips for the Ark is $50-ish. I should postpone a bit to make sure I get the correct one. Me now: WTF do you mean it's $277 ??? 😭

Ugh, today was insane. I've replaced x509 certificates with CWT attestations throughout Dark Bio. Needed to update 10 repositories in lockstep: - Rust/Go/Flutter/TypeScript crypto - Ark firmware, Ark CLI - Cloud worker, cloud CLI - Web dash, mobile app Thank you Claude

Today I've spent 5 hours with Codex writing an x509 wrapper. 3000 LOC with tests. I'm one hour in with Claude and it's deleting code like there's no tomorrow. > No, you don't need it. It's a textbook unnecessary abstraction. Was told Codex is good, it's a complexity generator.

Have a wild Sunday idea to geek out with AI. Multiple people used Claude/Codex to reverse engineer a game (banteg did Crimsonland and ccccjjjjeeee did SimCity). Point proven. Let's up the difficulty. Lets see if AI can split open a proprietary radio protocol! Starting now 😅
