The coal tits are busy stashing sunflower seeds for the winter, tucking them into nooks and crannies all over the garden. I collect the seeds from the sunflowers that inevitably appear each summer and tip them into the bird feeder. I wonder if they know they're growing their own food 😁

Just watched a huge vee of geese flying overhead. Suddenly they bunched up and bumbled about in a confused mass before sorting themselves out and setting off back in the direction they came from. They must have left the oven on or something 😳

Our fridge makes a wide variety of strange noises, all of which are supposedly normal. Just went in the kitchen and thought it was having a breakdown from the buzzy racket it was making, till I remembered I'd put a poorly bumble bee under a jam jar with some sugar water. He was clearly raring to go!

A big patch of thistles has been dispersing its seeds and the 'fairies' are hanging in the still, warm air in large clumps. A car drives through them and they whoosh over the top in the slipstream before pirouetting to the ground

It's been a little breezy this afternoon and, sure enough, the mango stone has reappeared on the ground. I'm happy to report that there have been no tropical fruit-related injuries

I am almost tempted to do a large woollen wash but not before the weekend.

I'm sick of fruit flies dancing on my peaches and making them go off, so I'm now chasing the little buggers round the kitchen with one of those net umbrellas you put over your cakes. It's like trying to catch a speck of dust with Jodrell Bank.

There's one of those Formula One flies in the house again. So ridiculously loud it creates the Doppler effect as it hurtles by.

Sitting under the big tree in the garden and there's a little flock of baby long tailed tits over our heads. Such sweet little things, like tiny feathery lollipops.

On a walk through Glenshee when suddenly two Typhoons rip through the tranquility and scream overhead. We watch as they reach Spittal of Glenshee and turn sharply right into Glen Beag. A wall of sound bounces back off the mountains and sweeps over us like a wave, assaulting our ears a second time.

We're sitting in a cafe and a bird hops in through the door and makes his way around the floor hoovering up crumbs. "Is that that chaffinch again?" shouts the owner. "Every day he does this, cheeky bugger. We've already had words".

My neighbour's dog doesn't bark much, and when he does it's just a single big woof. Thought I just heard him bark but realised it was one of the line judge voice recordings at Wimbledon 😂

Walking through a park I notice the path has been repaired with a little patch of concrete. In the mix, amongst the stones and gravel, is a tiny piece of willow pattern china.

My friend just drove past the same field. She said it looks like the forensics team are out looking for evidence 🔍

Standing in a queue for ice cream at Jannetta's in St Andrews, trying to make a decision from over 50 flavours, I can't help but hear the couple behind me. She reads the list aloud, ums and ahs over each one and finally decides on strawberry. He just says, "Plain. I want plain."

When one too many walkers have traipsed through your garden.

Driving past a field I see the farmer has put disposable coveralls amongst his crop to scare the birds, hood up to form the head and one arm raised in a permanent wave. Their translucency makes them look like the ghosts of scarecrows past.

If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, why is it so happy? 😁
