Not actually starting on #BastilleBuild yet as I have a PaK 38 to finish up first, but I did unbox all the sprues. Gonna be a big build, 1/48 Camel for scale. #histscalemodels

Finished up the Eduard Camel. Didn't intend for this to take up the better part of 4 months to build, but I'm happy with how it ended up. #histscalemodels

Procrastinating on working on the Camel rigging, decided to throw together this Tamiya Pak 38. #histscalemodels

Struts attached, the Camel's finally looking like a plane. Now on to rigging her up. #HistScaleModels

Started the oil weathering on the Camel, really brings out the detail Eduard put into this kit. #HistScaleModels

Tried peeling the Eduard decal film for the first time, started off okay but got a lot of torn bits along the rib taping. Shouldn't be difficult to touch up those spots though, and I think the final look is worth it. Also printed out my own decal for the tail fin. #HistScaleModels

Finally finished up painting on the Camel. Now on to dealing with Eduard decals. #HistScaleModels

Wood grain on, I always find it a fun effect to paint. #HistScaleModels

Got some paint down on the Camel. Used the bare linen mix on the wood areas as well, to serve as a base for wood grain effects. #histscalemodels

Clerget engine for the Eduard Camel, before and after painting. Replaced the pushrods with wire, plastic ones hid most of the cylinder from view. #histscalemodels

Weird little issue, the PE part Eduard included for this step is completely the wrong shape. Especially strange is that the image of the PE sheet in the instructions has it correct.

Replicated a couple modifications William Barker made to his Camel. 3D printed a jig to draw out where the cowling slots needed to be cut away. Luckily Eduard did provide a top wing with the wider opening, just had to add styrene and bend a wire to shape. #histscalemodels

Eduard Camel internals all painted and rigged, ready to put it all together and close up the fuselage. #histscalemodels

Did some 3D modeling & printing for the Camel. I'm doing Barker's plane, which had funnel intakes that Eduard expects you to scratch-build. The kit seat and Vickers cooling jacket look alright, but printing gives a lot more detail. #histscalemodels

Started on my first kit of the year, Eduard's Sopwith Camel. All the various internal bits are ready for paint. Added some wire for fuel piping, plus a seat cushion I 3D printed for a previous attempt at this kit. #HistScaleModels

Decals and matte varnish down, so I can pull the masking off. And now, on to the weathering. #histscalemodels

Base paint down on the Spit. Decided on a light blue underside to represent a squadron-applied paintjob before Sky was standardized. #histscalemodels

Next up on the bench, the Tamiya 1/48 Spitfire. Cockpit went together without an issue as expected for a Tamiya kit. #histscalemodels
