The first single from INXS's album "Kick", "Need You Tonight" reached no.1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1987 and was a huge hit almost everywhere except the UK, where it only got to 58. It finally reached the top 40 in 1988, peaking at no.2. #OffTheChart #NoiseboxRadio

No.5 this week in 1988, Enya's "Orinoco Flow" was down four places after three weeks at no.1. Technically she had another no.1 hit in 2004, when she was credited on "I Don't Wanna Know" by Mario Winans which samples her track "Boadicea". #OffTheChart #NoiseboxRadio

"Retreat To Nowhere", from "From Enslavement to Obliteration" by Napalm Death, new at no.7 on the Indie Albums chart and no.8 on the Other Albums chart. The second album by the West Midlands grindcore legends, it features 22 tracks and plays for less than half an hour. #OffTheChart #NoiseboxRadio

No.60 in the Netherlands, "I Can Wait" was the only hit for The Marks, a band from Amsterdam. It peaked all the way up at no.55. #ICEOTWF #OffTheChart #NoiseboxRadio

Peaking at 21, "Handle With Care" was the Traveling Wilburys' only top 40 hit in the UK, and surprisingly neither of their albums reached the top ten until they were reissued as a box set in 2007 when they finally made no.1. #OffTheChart #NoiseboxRadio

The second single from Marc Almond's album "The Stars We Are", "Bitter Sweet" did better than Transvision Vamp or the Proclaimers by just sneaking into the top 40 at no.40, but was down to 44 this week. #OffTheChart #NoiseboxRadio

The title track of the Proclaimers' second album, ironically recorded in Oxfordshire, "Sunshine on Leith" inspired a stage musical and later a film, both also called "Sunshine on Leith", but was never a top 40 hit, peaking at 41. #OffTheChart #NoiseboxRadio

Up 8 places to 65, "Dance Out Of My Head" was the only solo hit for Pia Zadora, regular winner of the Golden Raspberry award for Worst Actress. She previously charted with "When the Rain Begins to Fall" with Jermaine Jackson from the movie "Voyage of the Rock Aliens". #OffTheChart #NoiseboxRadio

The Real Roxanne wasn't really called Roxanne, but she had a hit in 1986 with "(Bang Zoom) Let's Go Go". Two years later she returned to the chart with "Respect", based on *that* one, down 8 places to 79 this week in 1988. #OffTheChart #NoiseboxRadio

Up to 25, "Uncle Sam" peaked at 21 and was Madness's first single to fail to reach the top twenty, breaking a run that stretched all the way back to their debut "The Prince" in 1979. #OffTheChart #NoiseboxRadio

The second single from Kate Bush's "Hounds of Love" album, "Cloudbusting" peaked at no.20 but was sampled by Utah Saints on their track "Something Good" which made no.4 in 1992 and no.8 as a remix in 2008. #OffTheChart #NoiseboxRadio

Peaking at 30, "You Are My World" was the debut single by the Communards, the duo of Jimmy Somerville, who had quit Bronski Beat earlier in 1985, and Richard Coles, who had previously played clarinet on Bronski Beat's hit "It Ain't Necessarily So". #OffTheChart #NoiseboxRadio

No.66 on the Disco & Dance chart, "You Blew It" by the Mad Lads. Still not clear how these Mad Lads were related to the Memphis vocal group who formed in 1964 and broke up 1973, but that's showbiz. #OffTheChart #NoiseboxRadio

The Beloved formed in 1983 and recorded two sessions for John Peel; this track, "Up A Tree" is from the second. They went on to have eight top 40 hits in the late '80s and '90s after they went dance, but Peel didn't really like them after that. #OffTheChart #NoiseboxRadio

"Sleeping Bag" was ZZ Top's biggest hit in the US, where it reached no.8 on the Hot 100 and no.1 on the Mainstream Rock Tracks chart. In the UK it peaked at 27 and was down to no.42 this week. #OffTheChart #NoiseboxRadio

Down to 61 from a peak of 58, this version of "It's a Man's Man's Man's World" was the first hit for the modestly named Brilliant, a band containing June Montana, Youth and Jimmy Cauty yet produced by Stock, Aitken & Waterman. #OffTheChart #NoiseboxRadio

Up to a peak of 62, "Give and Take" was the last of eight hit singles for Brass Construction in the UK; their first and biggest was "Movin'" which reached no.23 in 1976 and no.24 as a remix in 1988. #OffTheChart #NoiseboxRadio

The ironically titled "We Are The Clash" from "Cut The Crap", the 6th and final studio album by The Clash, although by this stage it was just Joe Strummer and the band's manager Bernie Rhodes making the records. Kevin Rowland didn't want to release a single from Dexys' third album "Don't Stand Me Down" but eventually released an edit of the 12 and a half minute epic "This Is What She's Like". It peaked at 78. #OffTheChart #NoiseboxRadio

New at 88, "Make 'em Move" was the first hit for Sly & Robbie, the legendary Jamaican rhythm section and production team of Sly Dunbar and Robbie Shakespeare. It peaked at 83. #OffTheChart #NoiseboxRadio

New at a peak of no.96, "Cruiser's Creek" was another of The Fall's first six hits which all peaked between no.90 and no.99. Mark E. Smith called it "a party lyric with a macabre twist". #OffTheChart #NoiseboxRadio
