Gave a talk in Copenhagen yesterday at a small scientific conference on quantum computing with great attendees. It was an interesting experience after so many years out of touch with "my field". Hope to deepen the interaction in the future. Below is the part of the presentation I am most proud of:

After a very long time it is finally peer reviewed and out: pubs.acs.org/doi/full/10.... The preprint (arxiv.org/abs/2408.11091) is from last August and (v1) not that different from the published version. For some reason I always get content-fatigue when it comes to the final touches.

Politics is a strange thing - and I feel I am missing a basic nugget of education here. Why is it that on a personal level it mostly does not matter where people come from and we get along just fine - but as soon as we start building and thinking in groups (tribes, countries etc) it turns to 💩

In #compchem applications of #quantumcomputing, IBM is currently using QSD (quantum sample diagonalization) as their workhorse. In some sense this is just encoding a wave function and then observing the frequency distribution afterwards. Why is that interesting?
