Lately thinking about the "hierarchy of suffering," and how it seems to get confused with social hierarchy/the hierarchy of privilege. Pain is pain, sure. Also? The suffering of one neurodivergent, cis-male, white man, is not the same as the suffering of a black, queer, disabled transwoman.

An eloquent image: Setting aside the content under the tarp for a moment, teens were asked to make art expressing what it is like to be a teen, and the end result was a mural wrapped in a tarp by adults. I bet a lot of teens would find this expressive of their experience.

When you burn a bridge, you can't fix it. It doesn't matter if you regret the burning. You can maybe build a new bridge, but the old pilings are damaged and the supports are gone. You're starting over, from scratch, and you might never span that divide again. That's just reality.
