Golden hour last night with Smudge cat. He knows how to find the best lighting.

I'm sorry to ask for help again so soon, it's just our epileptic girl Mango has been in hospital for 4 days and we've also had 5 very wonky kittens (two who can't walk) brought in. A miracle would be lovely 😭

Sadly there were no skunks. I’m disappointed.

Smudge just came in from a productive morning patrol. Many butterflies were watched and bees avoided!

Football finished too late for us, but saw a bbc news alert on my phone. Now I need to stop Iain looking at his phone when he wakes up before he watches the recording! Good job I’m not bothered about football! 😂 I feel like James Bond with a secret mission now!

Smudge is spending most of his time under a bush in the garden. When the heatwave ends, I’m looking forward to having a cat back in the house!

Smudge is happy that it’s slightly cooler this evening. It’s been a very hot day here.

Smudge was a very good boy at the vets this morning. He’s had his annual vaccination and is, as usual a bit sleepy afterwards. So he’s flaked out on the landing with a fan on him.

I think my cat has melted.

I got the football ready for my husband to watch while he gets ready for work. The problem is that I know nothing about football and he’s asked me to pause it if anything exciting happens. So I’m having to pause and then ask if this particular event counts as exciting!

I’m so happy with our crop of poppies. I think next year, I might try to get some into the grass. Continue my attempts to create a pollinator paradise!

Bought a pack of poppy seeds in B&Q earlier in the year. They are really fancy! This is today’s favourite.

5:30am and we have already been trying to catch a mouse which Smudge has kindly brought in for us for about an hour. How’s your Sunday going?

It’s never too hot for crossed paws.

I’m sitting out in my garden to try and get some fresh air before I have to start work. I think my next door neighbour is watching porn on the patio. At any rate, there is a lot of loud panting! Surely headphones would be a better bet?

I just put the oven on. Pray for me!

Smudge has been out under a bush in the garden all morning. He’s now come inside and is enjoying being in front of a fan.

Feeling extremely fortunate that I’m lucky enough to have a garden with a patio which is currently in the shade of the house. I’m going to sit outside while I can in the hope I can store this cool feeling like a battery for later!

Woke up to find some poppies have bloomed over night. Some hover flies are already enjoying them!

8am, I’m sitting out on my patio enjoying the tiny bit of coolish breeze before the onslaught. Checked the wildlife camera and very glad that I remembered to fill up the water bowls last night. One of our local hedgehogs looked very glad of a drink!

I bought Smudge a cooling mat. Obviously he is ignoring it.

Smudge has been hiding under the cat mint all day. He’s finally come in. Fortunately he’s been under shade so hasn’t got too hot.

It’s going to be very hot. So I bought Smudge a cooling mat. At the moment he’s ignoring it in favour of auditioning to be the new logo for Puma.

You know you’re winning at cat life when you have your very own armchair and two cushions.

Smudge has had a long, tough day. He’s had another cat in his garden but no harm done to either! But it has made him very tired.

I met this adorable poodle called Fred today. He has been very poorly and it was so lovely to see how much his owners love him. He was clearly the apple of their eyes. Just as it should be.
