While it is the game that spawned a genre, it feels like the original Rogue is underrated. The original terminal graphics, the gameplay that takes a little bit to get but isn't ultra-complicated. Turn based. Good for casual play, running around some dungeons figuring stuff out. Dig it.

I'm very locked in to my routine. Today I'm gonna stop in to a general store in Eureka, a barely-a-village I've never been to close to my way home from work. It's supposed to be old-timey and novel. I should treat my local environment more like a tourist coming here to find fun things.

I played 6 playtest hall games at GenCon. I bought and read a dozen comics from an Indianapolis comic shop. I ate out at some decent restaurants. This is all OK. Between the crowds and general hassle, my feelings are a little mixed though not bad.

Troubleshooting a guitar pedalboard is a pain in the ass. Something is getting shit power, or you have a bad cable, or some electronic thing somewhere in your house is buzzing through your gear, or something sounds like it's getting overdriven for no apparent headroom reasons. Sometimes, coming home in the snowy blowy darkness, across the windswept empty open fields of Gratiot county, trouble seeing the edges of the road, when see the lights of Carson (my hometown)... it feels like a cozy JRPG when you leave the overland map & switch to the safe town map.

I'm mostly sorting through YouTube channel subscriptions (along with bookmarks and RSS feeds), and have 114 channels I subscribe to. Some of them are dead, and so basically amount to bookmarks to old videos. Is this a lot? I dunno. YT basically replaces TV and TV-like services in my life.

Kinda crazy how much of American music, and the instruments of the Dobro, Lap Steel and Pedal Steel all come out of the Hawaiians getting a hold of some guitars. This minty green Gretsch has some groovy era vibes. Hope the classic sounds and moves aren't too hard to pick up.
