I toured Bricklayers Local 2’s Training Center to meet the next generation of skilled trades workers. I learned a few bricklaying skills and saw firsthand the world-class training. This program is a model for preparing young people earn good-paying jobs and building Michigan’s future.

At Midnight, UAW Local 2093 went on strike for a fair contract with American Axle. While the company made $8.4B in profit over the last decade, the workers’ paychecks were forced to stretch further and further. I stand in solidarity with their fight for a livable wage and a fair contract.

I’ve been laser focused on revitalizing Pontiac. Under my leadership in the Senate, I made sure our county seat was the big winner in the budget to invest in and grow downtown, fix the MLK bridge, and ensure more money goes into Pontiac classrooms.

When I was growing up, antisemitism was primarily in history books and black & white film reels. Today it was in real color right up the road at Temple Israel. This is a fire that will take all of us to snuff out. We must stand up to the unacceptable rise in antisemitism.

I’ve been in contact with local officials to monitor the active shooting at Temple Israel in West Bloomfield and am praying for everyone inside. I’m grateful to our law enforcement for the overwhelming emergency response from multiple agencies.
