How High: perfectly fine song when Madonna examines her fame and ambition and success (wonāt be the last). Itās not a go-to necessarily for me on Confessions butā¦itās fine.

Jump: while not nearly as big of a hit, I think this fun little bit of pop is right up there with similarly titled songs from my youth by The Pointer Sisters, Van Halen, Kris Kross, House of Pain, and Destinyās Child

Forbidden Love: the 2nd Madonna track with this title, I prefer the Bedtime Stories one but this is fine. As I prefer the tracks on either side of this one more, this is sometimes a skip for me but itās more about liking the other songs than not particularly liking this one if that makes sense.

Let It Will Be: this is probably my favorite track on Confessions. The prominent opening āstringsā reminds me of the opening string section on Papa Donāt Preach. I love the line ājust watch me burnā at the 3:15 mark as the beat comes back in.

I Love New York: I loathe this song. Itās the worst on the album and probably one of her worst ever. I donāt think it fits with the album, itās very āpick meā to me. I have seen her live shows twice in NYC and yes, it elevates her I think compared to others Iāve seen. I hate this song.

Future Lovers: I really like this song but mostly due to it being the opener of the Confessions tour mixed with I Feel Love, and I just thought it was so well done. So when this song hits, Iām reminded to listen to the better live version.

Our neighborhood hosts a yearly art and craft fair that attracts 600 artists and tens of thousands of people and we had lunch on the main strip at a local venue and we were the only non-middle aged or elderly white women in the place and I immediately thought about them:

Get Together: itās hard for me to dislike any track on Confessions since itās one, all dance, and two, so connected to my bartending era and my nocturnal existence for 16 yearsādrinks, my best friends and coworkers, and Madonna.

Ok treated the husband to the listening party video album making of documentary thing and and it actually helped me to appreciate the album more and Iād say that 7 of the 12 tracks I enjoy quite a bit.

If Taylor wants to resonate with teens, theyāre really into 90s feel good songs. The new album was a missed opportunity to kick it up a notchānostalgia for millennials and retro feel good vibes for the Gen Zers. Anyway I knowingly married a Swifty so I wonāt be allowed to listen to anything else.

Hung Up: one of Madonnaās strongest lead singles. Gay fave ABBA? Check. Danceable? Check. Video that gets people talking? Check. Straight people singing along even? Check. Confessions is a great album and this starts it off with one of its best tracks.

Easy Ride: the final track on American Life is actually in the upper tier for me and it has everything to do with the beat drop at the 2 minute mark. Next up:

Years ago, Jane Goodall came to our school (likely a publicity stunt on the part of our districtā¦we are, after all, the Remember the Titans school and will never stop reminding people) to plant a tree. I got to meet her; she was very kindā¦

Die Another Day: Iāve never really cared for the Bond song aspect of this track. Iām just meh on olā 007. But I like this song. I donāt know public opinion on the song AS a Bond song either.

Mother and Father: as we near the final tracks of American Life, this song seems similar to Nobody Knows Me but I find it plenty enjoyable. Yes itās not as amazing as the three before it but Od argue this is quite a strong album overall.

Me during my match last night when I held my own against a kid half my age. Anyway. My knee hurts (but it always does) and my shoulder hurts (but thatās from the gym not the game) ā¦so guess Iām good for this weekends match

X-Static Process: this is my pick for best track on the album. I love this song that I like to refer to as the dueling Madonnaās (which is also the premise of the Die Another Day video if I recall). And tho Iāve been talking about these last three songs, Iām a fan of all that comes next too.

Nobody Knows Me: this is where American Life kicks into high gear for me after a somewhat middling start. Yes the Cher-matized voice and repetitive lyrics arenāt anything special, but itās a fun song leading to a string of three of Madonnaās best tracks

Love Profusion: while one of her laziest videos, every time I hear the song, I imagine me just walking down a pathway of initials so maybe the video worked after all? I think it was for an ad she was filming and was like oh this album is already hated by everyone so letās just make it the video too

Me in the morning not thinking a lengthy run and gym time prior to a late soccer match where I had to mark the most insanely fit 32 year old woman maybe wasnāt such a great idea (sheās also a friend). Fun match, fun opponent but I will feel it tomorrow. Iām fast but Iām no longer her kind of fast

Hollywood: I didnāt like this song at first because i thought it was a lousy follow up to the lead single that bombed and she should have chosen something elseā¦but itās grown on me since.

American Life: I preordered this CD and picked it up on the way to a friendās funeral so I will associate it with him. If Iām reading the vibes correctly, this album, though frowned upon initial release, is, like Erotica, more appreciated these days. As for the title track, I love it and her rap.

Gone: very coffee shop in a college town vibe. A solid end to Music and hints at the sound we will see on American Life. Madonna has always considered herself somewhat of a singer/songwriter deep down and we get more and more glimpses of that in the 21st century.

Paradise (Not for Me): perhaps the little weirdo track on Music. Itās actually quite long and reminds me of playing around with our familyās first Casio keyboard from the 80s though we have zero musical talent. Just pressing random key to a programmed beat and seeing what happens.

What It Feels Like For A Girl: I love this song and it sorta bombed on the charts after two big hits. In one of my first units I created as a new teacher, called āWomen on the Vergeā, I included these lyrics, Natalia Killsā Saturday Night and Miranda Lambertās Mamas Broken Heart.

After a long loud day with teens, the doggos were then too loud for my brief time at home before I went back to campus for a two hour school board advisory meeting just to realize at a minute past start time that I was in fact two weeks early for said meeting. So I broke into some Halloween candy š

Donāt Tell Me: one of Madonnaās most underrated hit songs (if that can even be a thing) and probably my favorite on Music. With lyrics written by her brother in law, who shares my last name though no relation, itās just a great song (and videoāone of her more simple ones too)

I Deserve It: I feel this track is a precursor to the image Madonna ultimately wanted to portray on American Life, the sorta look at me Iām a singer songwriter, just me and my lady girl guitar about to play Lilith Fair. sheās sometimes wanted to be taken more seriously as that type of performer
