Hey, I know EXACTLY why Christie bombed at the box office. I was aware of the movie for less than one week before its release because I saw a link to the trailer. That was the ONLY thing I saw anywhere, ever, until I heard the movie was out and bombing.

Seymour the protector cat is now hopping from high spot to high spot, shoulder riding, and begging for scritches. He's not at 100% yet, and has a little way to go, but he's SO MUCH better. I'm still amazed at how willingly he accepted help, from loud sawing to vet to bath. Good kitty.

I'm proud to say that, when given the opportunity, I voted against Charles Schumer. No regrets.

Our local movie house is Spring Lane Cinemas in Sanford, NC. With donated players, discs, and tapes, they have created a free movie rental space that is now turning into a full, '90s style movie rental store. Still, all free.

One good thing that might come out of this is that China might declare war on space junk. Someone needs to eventually, and it isn't like the US is going to do anything useful these days.

Looking around at various car brands, and it seems really hard these days to buy a car. You can buy variations on trucks and minivans, but very few actual cars. A crossover is just a minivan, and I don't hate minivans. They're just boring.

Seymour the protector kitty is getting stronger. He eating more, and drinking water, and enjoying laying on a fleece electric blanket while he recovers. He is also being carried to the litter box periodically to handle business. He's a perfect purring pampered patient.

Around 1:30 today I decided I needed a nap. Apparently, around 5 my wife decided against waking me. After this week, though, I can't complain about a 5 hour Saturday afternoon nap.

Fired up World of Warships for the first time in a while. Got a survey, asking about whether I'd ever stopped playing for a whole. Long story short, devs, love the game, but I love other games too. Not all of them get return visits. You do.

What we see AI doing now is general purpose failure. What we need is focused training. If I need to do geographic data analysis, I'd want an AI that prioritizes accurate analysis and doesn't worry about your ego.

I am loving the news that mRNA COVID vaccines had a major benefit to melanoma patients. Now we're also hearing that targeted mRNA vaccines coupled with other therapies may be the cure for a LOT of cancer. Meanwhile, RFK Jr is still a dipshit. What kind of dipshit would hire him?

My cat Seymour trusts me completely. He has long claws which get stuck, and used to resist my help in unsticking, but now he asks for help. As a result, he always knew I was coming to rescue him, and he was an excellent patient with the vet visit. Best patient ever.

I had plans this week. The weather was going to be great. The bike and gear are ready. I've even added another script to the process. Project set to go. Three days of losing one cat and working to rescue another from the floorboards and... well, maybe next week.

I am NOT an astronomist. Every time I've heard about dark energy it has peeved me. I see "dark energy" as fluid dynamics in the cycle of a bubble that has been cavitated by energy. Space within bubble is relative only to bubble, and growth of bubble expands the space. Outside is not null.

Seymour the protector kitty has been rescued from the floorboards. He was trapped for 48 hours. He was shaky, and we took him to the vet. He needs some care and recovery, and will probably be okay. Now I zombie through the rest of the day and sleep until Friday.

I love @harborfreight.com. The cat is not yet rescued from the depths of the 2nd story floorboards. Bought the hole cutter and used it up before holes were all cut. They exchanged it. Now all the holes are cut, and I have a good, usable tool for the future. Now, if only the cat would come out.

You know, if drinking and driving resulted in a one year license suspension on the first offense, and a year in prison if your license is already suspended while you do it, there would be more support for quality public transportation and bike lanes.

Abbie was a very good kitty, and she will be missed.

When we lived in Louisiana, we lost an old cat we cared for in late life. Friends brought us Abbie as a rescue test, and she never left us. Now she has. I am very sad. Abbie was small, sweet, snuggly, and took no crap from the other cats, even de-clawed. Now she's gone.

Stressing over cats. I'm fairly confident Seymour can find his way out of the hole he's gotten into, I think. Abbie is wrapped up and resting. My brain is chaotic, so I'm listening to Corrosion of Conformity's early stuff to calm it down. First album early. Chaos fighting chaos.

One cat sick and another trapped in the second-story floor, through some unknown route, and quite frankly I'm starting to shut down. One, I'm doing what I can. The other...still looking for something I CAN do.

Trying, and failing, to not burn my mouth on a nice bowl of hot, fresh, shakshuka.

Watching the NASCAR race. Who'll get the championship? I'm rooting for Hamlin, though always Blaney for the race win. Just make sure it isn't Larson.

So, taking about three hours over four days to write a 2900 word monologue script, plus a few hours of research, elevated anxiety, and time spent choosing the right music isn't actually a low level of production I should stress about?

I'm just trying to watch the race. I realize a child abduction notice is serious business. I shouldn't have to click away SIX notifications in less than one minute. This is on streaming, too. Spectrum, if it matters.

Watched the car chase from "To Live and Die in LA" just now. Cool scene, but it's basically modern driving. Lots of people just trying to get where they need to go properly, and one jerk driving the wrong way against traffic yelling, "Get out of my way, assholes!"

I've added another bike to the small, but growing collection. $10 for an old Huffy mountain bike. $0 spent tightening bolts and making adjustments, and I have a good, rideable bike. Now, I just need to ride, adjust, repeat to dial it in. It needs a trailer hitch and luggage rack now.

My father taught me to ride a bike. I thought I was pretty good at it. Then, in 1985 I saw David Leopold on 60 minutes, and I re-learned everything. Riding aggressively among cars increased my speed and safety by a lot. A few years ago, my The Countess met him. So jelly.

Without any prompting whatsoever, the Countess just said to me, "By the way, I hate @plex.tv now." Part of it is that I lost a season of a TV show she wants to watch, but most of it is how the new UI update made the experience of trying to find it horrible. It's a serious downgrade for a great app.

Recently the cats have been changed from sitting nearby to snuggling inside robes while we sit. This morning I woke up face down in bed with the big cat on my shoulders and the little one on my butt. For years I've tried to get Seymour to sleep by me. Now he's ON me. Yay?

Can't wait to get the Countess out for another bike lesson. She had her first fall, and it turned out to happen as slowly as I said it would. She was only a little sore after. I also demonstrated how slowly the "faster" she needed to go actually was, and why. She's excited.

You know what would be nice as a North Carolinian? I'd like, just once, to vote in an election with a map that isn't gerrymandered. If I've done so, it was outside the state. Before the Republicans started it, the Democrats mastered gerrymandering here, and I'm tired of all of it.

Well, I just converted three tab groups into bookmarks. There's 20% of my memory back. Some is research for future writing. Some is for past writing. Some is prep for field searches. Right now, I'm just closing tabs willy-nilly!

I love my ebike, even if it is the cheapest on the market. What I really need is a decent front-box cargo ebike for the wife. After her stroke a few years back, three wheels would be good for her, and the cargo space has infinite uses. Right now, we can't ride together. That sucks.
