One thing that has really been surprising to me as I've ridden Disk'O Coasters around the world is how wildly different their ride cycles are from each other. Meanwhile, on Shaman's Curse, you can see how completely devoid of shade Iowa's Lost Island is. youtu.be/7L-0RuPOsiQ

Everyone knows I've had some bad experiences with some of the Mack water coasters, but fortunately Speed at Energylandia was built by Intamin, so it doesn't hurt! It's pretty fun, but while it looks like it'll deliver two drenching splashdowns, they aren't actually too bad. youtu.be/i7HgL_R3lJ4

Arguably the best ride at Paris's Walt Disney Studios Park is Ratatouille: L'Aventure Totalement Toquée de Rémy (try saying that 3 times fast). It's a cute little trackless dark ride that takes you into Remy's world for 5 minutes. Thankfully now in 2D! youtu.be/Ier6R4DmZVo

Guangzhou Sunac Land has a pair of incredibly iconic coasters in Dueling Dragons, with the Red Sit-Down and Green Inverted tracks sharing opposite sides of the same launch, loop, and spike. Sadly, they no longer duel. But Red is still a really fun ride! youtu.be/rFPcU6GzIUg

One of the surprise highlights of my time in South Korea was my afternoon at Skyline Luge Busan, which is right next door to Lotte World Adventure Busan. They have 4 different luge track routes you can take. This is the Wind Track (right-right). youtu.be/otJSy5RXSRI

I've always been a bit critical of Disneyland's Pinocchio because of how dark everything is in there, but like everything else at Tokyo Disneyland, the Oriental Land Company takes good care of their ride & Pinocchio's Daring Journey is actually well-lit! youtu.be/0CG_Qg4xEzI

Happy Saturday from Darien Lake! It was a bit earlier of a morning than you'd expect for a noon park opening, but it took almost 3 hours to get here from our hotel, including a ~25 min wait at the border.

I love the international terminal. Curbside to airside in literally 3 minutes. Now onwards for another little coastering adventure!

If you gave me a nickel every time Intamin built an invert that they called Tornado, I'd have two nickels, but it's weird that it happened twice. This one is at Finland's Särkänniemi, and it's actually a pretty decent ride. Plus it threads thru a loop! youtu.be/Y5jCZ8G5HvE

Menhir Express is a really lovely log flume located at France's best theme park, Parc Astérix, which is just north of Paris. It's a really fun ride with a few little surprises along the way, and you're definitely going to get wet! Check it out: youtu.be/oNf72bFLM_s

Arnolds Park is a nice quaint little park with a ton of charm on the northern edge of Iowa. Definitely worth a detour if you're anywhere near the area. And they have this old Carousel that dates all the way back to 1915. Check it out! youtu.be/GB2ZdR28ei8

I haven't ridden many Soquet coasters, but Devil's Loop at Legendia is certainly an interesting one. It has two loops and some helices, but what makes this ride particularly wild are the backwards-facing seats in the rear car. And the super janky restraints. youtu.be/QOLWmArK4ac

Cedar Point has 18 different roller coasters. I spent a long weekend up there last week, and I came back with some thoughts. So let's rank them all up! If you agree or disagree, feel free to chime in with your thoughts below, but keep in mind that everybody likes different things with coasters.

So Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage at Disneyland is one of my least-favorite rides during a challenge run, because it doesn't have any line skips, is pretty cramped/uncomfortable, takes forever, & often happens late when I'm tired & sore. But it's not THAT bad. youtu.be/k4V56JVZxhc

At some point I need to go through & count up how many different Boomerangs I've ridden around the world. I'm sure it's quite a lot. They're actually fun rides, so long as they don't have OTSRs. Fortunately, Generator at Walibi Rhône-Alpes has lapbars! Weird ones, but lapbars. youtu.be/oNQRYqCFPYs

When Energylandia was deciding on their 2018 addition, they presented proposals from both Intamin and Vekoma for fans to vote on, and the people chose Intamin, which became Hyperion. But I can't help but wonder how much better the Vekoma would have been. youtu.be/0c2TDlaESSw

When I visited Estonia in 2023, there was only one single roller coaster in the entire nation: Kullakaevandus at Kadrioru Karussell in Tallinn Now what made it particularly weird was the dude doing landscaping underneath the ride while it was operating. youtu.be/5ATA6w9xTPU

I am back at Cedar Point for one last hurrah before flying home this afternoon. After 3 straight days of doing the park from before early entry till after close, I made the business decision to sleep in this morning, so I'm only now getting into the park. But I'm not stressing. Gonna be fun!

Got to Cedar Point even earlier this morning, and there are even more people here than yesterday. Would it have been nice to sleep in a couple extra hours and just not fool around at all with this? Finland's PowerPark is a fair ways off the beaten path for most enthusiasts, but it's home to Junker, which may very well be the best Gerstlauer coaster. It's super fun, smooth, comfy, and it has the elongated inversions with great hangtime like Monster. youtu.be/JMhVa2qA5SU

The Jungle Cruise rides are classic fun but perhaps a bit formulaic. Hong Kong Disneyland decided to completely change the game: Jungle River Cruise takes on a route more akin to the Rivers of America, and while it features many classic gags, it has a rather explosive finale. youtu.be/RSmM5DQzrck

If you could go anywhere in the world in early December for a few days, where would you go and what would you do there?

If you're a coaster enthusiast traveling around Europe, there's only one reason you go into Switzerland, and that's to ride the super-unique Cobra at Conny-Land. Getting winched up the beyond-vertical lift is wild. The Scorpion Tail stall is wild too. youtu.be/-2RCiJsRD7c

Yo-ho, yo-ho, a pirate's ride for me... Magic Kingdom's Pirates of the Caribbean is the short version of Pirates and honestly my least favorite of the bunch. But you do get in and out a lot quicker. So is its brevity an asset? Or a detriment for you? youtu.be/fDzHDsAsucE

Azteka is a funky and unique terrain coaster built by French coaster manufacturer Soquet, whose coasters are fairly rare (mostly just in France). Incidentally, Azteka is located at the super fun little French park called Le Pal (also home to Yukon Quad). youtu.be/BMem8e5gpFE

There aren't many brakeman-operated roller coasters left out there, but one of my favorite theme parks in the world (Finland's Linnanmäki) is home to Vuoristorata. Experience varies from ride-to-ride, but there can be a nice ejector pop in the 2nd half. youtu.be/qHx6X1RR1DA

Parc Astérix has a pretty solid collection of roller coasters, from modern & high-thrill to older & more family-friendly. Vol D'Icare is among the latter group. It's a fun little Zierer coaster that's family-friendly but still delivers a bit of thrill. youtu.be/Ouugu_wRGX0

It is finally Day 26 (technically 28 if you count my initial travel days), and it is finally time to say goodbye to Asia and head home! I slept in this morning, lounged around watching some YouTube videos, did a little work, repacked my suitcases, and now I'm ready to head to the airport!
