Just after high tide at Pont Penarlâg / Hawarden Bridge this lunchtime. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 Strange effect with the water in the flood plain channel flowing in the opposite direction to the main river channel, with the whole area looking very wet after all the recent rain.

Not a cheery or picturesque walk today, but went to have a look at the ongoing demolition of #Woodchurch Community Centre and Swimming baths. I've attached a pros / cons table, but my personal thoughts are that sadly, the social, financial and criminal costs are likely to vastly outweigh savings.🤷‍♂️

Had a walk through Oxton village today, en route to The Williamson Art Gallery & Museum. St Saviours church dominates the skyline, sitting atop the ridge. Nice to see my first daffodils of 2026, enjoy the architecture of the grand buildings, plus a very literal impromptu road sign adornment. 👢👍

Nice colours today too, from wild primrose, snowdrops, brown beech leaves, slill clinging on, and gorse.

I've been neglecting my walking recently, due to a combination of the dreary weather and arthritic knee pain, but today was too good an opportunity to miss some all too rare sunshine. Route took me through Arrowe Park to Royden Park - Arrowe & Greasby Brooks flowing well.

I don't know where to even begin with the terrible scenes coming in from The U.S. To my American followers, sending solidarity and supportive thoughts. I'm not religious, personally, but here are some photos of Liverpool Catholic Cathedral, offered as a symbol of hope, peace and reconciliation x

Had a walk around Royden Park today, for the first time in a while. Some early signs that Spring is not too far away.🌾 I noticed more of the rhododendron bushes by Frankby Mere have been cut back. I understand the good ecological reasons for this action, but still feel a bit sad they're gone.🫤

Had a walk along the prom to Egremont today. Managed to capture three football stadiums in one photo ⚽️👍

Weird clouds, looking north just now. Anyone know what type? 🤔

Opened the curtains to a nice sunrise this morning, although I think it had slightly faded by the time I spotted it. 🤷🌄

So my old Mum has moved the Three Kings into her Nativity Scene, early, as they aren't supposed to arrive until The Epiphany .... "to give them a fair go, before I take the crib down" They have been previously placed away from the crib, but moving closer each day, to symbolise their journey.😁👍

7.5 mile circular walk with my sister today, starting at Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, and heading off towards Chirk, along The Offa's Dyke path, before turning up into the hills, affording the opportunity for great views down The Dee Valley towards Castell Dinas Brân and Llangollen 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Lovely to see some sunshine and blue skies at last, on today's walk down to Leasowe Bay. 🌞😎

Christmas Eve sunrise, through the bare branches of the lime trees opposite.

Port Sunlight River Park, on a very grey and gloomy day - feels like it has hardly got light at all. 🤷‍♂️

Lots of hardy souls up at Arrowe Park yesterday, for a local (North West) Cross Country league race. Some tricky muddy sections for them to negotiate, especially through the woods, but even on the grass, the going was heavy, which must be so energy sapping. Leading runners were impressively fast!

Some moody clouds overhead as I walked the long way home from my old mum's, through Landican Village, but fortunately they lifted, and the rain kept off. Gorse bushes adding a splash of colour to a drab winter's day. The Asda carpark looked chocca - glad I am all finished with my food shopping! 😬🙏
