They just closed I-40 Westbound from Winslow and 87 South. We are now a parking lot and will fill up with big rigs as the night progresses. It's a good thing there are two big truck stops here. Too bad the third won't be completed until summer.

This was breakfast again... I just wish 3 eggs cost me 75 cents or less at home and not a buck fifty. Also I may have overstated the cooking time. It was closer to 60 to 80 seconds.

Speaking of eggs, I've been making a microwave cheat for soft boiled eggs. Melt a pat of butter in a bowl (10 to 15 seconds) swirl it around to coat the bowl most of the way up the sides.

Today I inadvertently kept to Lenten tradition and the only proteins I had were eggs and tuna. I could have had chicken or pork.

Always astounding to me when a chef recommends substituting a less common ingredient for a more common one. I'm pretty sure if I were presenting a recipe for the record, I'd start with the less common ingredient and recommend the more common as the substitute. I can't imagine doing it otherwise.

Is it weird that I'm bothered by a young person calling a blockbuster like Star Wars a cult classic? Rocky Horror is a cult classic. It built its audience over time. Star Wars broke the records upon release. Words used to have meaning.

This is a West coast post. Especially states sharing a border with Mexico. Asparagus is under $3/lb at Safeway and there is coupon in the app this week to get it for under $2/lb. That's the best price I can remember in this century.

So I just had a 3 egg fritatta with bacon, onions, peppers, tomato, and asparagus topped with a little cheddar. It was like 2 parts veg to one part eggs. The bacon and cheese were just seasonings. It was amazing and I am stuffed.

I just found my second grade teacher on Facebook. Last time I saw her in person we were in the checkout line at the grocery together and she was buying boxed wine. It made me laugh. She's got to be pushing 90. Should I friend her?

In an hour it will be the day & time that marks the 8th anniversary of my mother's death. Maybe that's why I haven't slept well tonight. 4 days from now on the 27th at the same time it will mark the same anniversary for my father. Finally we will mark the 3rd anniversary for my sister on March 1st.

I finally made it to the new city library today. My favorite part of visiting was listening to all the kids that were there whispering to each other.
