My niece just told me that she made Dean's list at UCT in her first year. I remember struggling through first year because we didn't come from schools that prepared us for varsity. The second generation university kids bucking this trend already has me in tears. Congratulations Gabby girl!

I'm reminded of when Julius said we aren't all working with the same information. We genuinely aren't. Sometimes, you're judging people for information they don't have.

People really still think that titles translate automatically to authority. Baffling.

Nothing bores me more than people who are articulate about problems but inarticulate and unimaginative about solutions. Being detailed about the problem but abstract about the solution produces a performance art I'm no longer interested in.

The Department of Health's primary responsibility is not healthcare but HEALTH. Health is about the absence of disease. About wellbeing and safety. We must be a plan to close the taps on disease otherwise we will never have enough money for healthcare.
