The Flying Dutchman may be folklore, but real sailors claimed sightings well into the 20th century. Prince George of Wales (later King George V) recorded seeing the glowing ghost ship in 1881 while serving in the Royal Navy.

So good they named it thrice. "With the combination of the Welsh word and the Anglo-Saxon word for cave, the name Wookey Hole Caves literally means “Cave, Cave, Caves".
