In contrast, London, the West Midlands and the South West have the lowest levels of segregation on average. In the top 10 least segregated local authorities in the country, 3 are from London, and 2 each are from the South West and West Midlands.

The North East has the highest levels of socio-economic segregation followed by the North West. Both have 3 local authorities in the top 10 most segregated. This means that pupils eligible for free school meals are more unevenly spread across schools in those areas.
