Downtown Winnipeg: these street lights are temporary (albeit sleek, silver and gorgeous). We held on to the old heritage street lights on Portage and Main as long as we could, but the poles are cracked, corroded, and can’t be repaired any further, so it’s time to put them out to pasture.

Windsor Park: we need to take an outage to repair a power line, after a truck snagged an overhead wire, in turn damaging a power line. Power will be out for around 570 customers in the Elizabeth Road area from about 2 to 4 p.m. #mboutage

This year, wildfires have damaged or destroyed more than 1,000 wood pole structures. We're working to repair the damage and doing all we can to prevent more. That includes wrapping wood poles (more than 3,000 so far) in a fire-resistant mesh and clearing vegetation near at-risk power lines.
