Also, Mom hasn't understood Vega's passing. She didn't get the stroke, isolation, bed-rot, euthanasia, cremation... She doesn't get he's gone, as though he was never here in the first place. So she doesn't know, doesn't "get" that I'm grieving. She doesn't know DAD is grieving. And it fucking sucks.

For a few years, Thanksgiving has been me pretending Mom still remembers her recipes. She doesn't... but I learned well, and I've been cooking them. Last year, it was bittersweet; she couldn't participate or recognize her own dishes. But this year, in addition, she is totally unaware cognitively. 😕

Someday I hope to be able once again to repay the kindnesses done to me. And for all the injustice and unfairness, I hope to heal; find peace and contentment. Otherwise, karma dictates a few people should learn to DUCK... lol

Took a trip to the crematorium. I can't wait to have my baby back home. Extra special shout-outs to my SIL @selaphi.bsky.social for driving me around during these times and my bestie @carnivoranix.bsky.social for ensuring all of his afterlife care needs were met. I would have been lost without you.

😞 I resent the pawsitive things about Vega's absence. Less litterbox woes, minimal litter tracking, smells nicer; the carpet won't need scrubbing every few weeks; I'll save money on food, litter, supplements each month, etc. Like, it's a reprieve, and I should be feeling it, but rn I'm just bitter.
