I'm excited to announce that
@vemetric.com
is now Open Source π After a long period of thinking about this, and exchanging with others, I finally decided to operate Vemetric under an open-core model, making its codebase openly available Let me tell you a bit more about it π

the last two weeks I took a step back and made a pause, even from shipping my products it showed me one thing: I have a memory leak in Vemetric's Backend π (before, I did continuous deployments almost every day, resetting the RAM and silently hiding it^^)

today I ordered a zigbee stick, which will turn my Mac Mini into an even more powerful Smart Home hub :D first use case will be to use an Aqara Sensor together with a Shelly, to make my garage door smart π I love this rabbit hole^^

yesterday I did it, after >350 days I purposefully let my posting streak end, because I'm currently in the last days of my parental leave, taking a break from building, and don't have much to say now Typefully is even so cute and let me repair my streak, they won't even tell anyone :) 1/2

OpenClaw still helps me a lot with my Google Ads for Vemetric! it helps me keep track of the changes we make, suggests new edits, and helps me build the CSVs for manual conversion uploads 1/2

thereβs still no way around MCP when you want to integrate your product into ChatGPT and Claude right? Iβm currently building the AI integration layer, this week I released the Rest API, now Iβm working on the CLI .. and this weeks discussions made me think again: do I really need a MCP server?

I've used one Codex chat for over 3 weeks to create the Vemetric API I really enjoy these long-running chats about one topic, so I can get as much value from the existing context as possible Codex does a good job there with auto-compaction as well!

you can feel the real power of open source when people genuinely help you with their contributions! recently there's been more activity again for Vemetric, also on our Discord server, where people also volunteer and help each other, which is so awesome π«Ά

The Vemetric REST API is live! π₯³ It opens up the way for programmatic integrations with your analytics data + using it to talk about it with your agents (which will get even easier with the upcoming CLI + MCP)

Vemetric's API Docs are being automatically generated for every endpoint using OpenAPI Sometimes I miss not having FumaDocs in my toolbelt, but I'd also miss the incredible outcome from Astro with almost zero JS

Google Ads are starting to show some results for Vemetric! but as I want the setup to be as privacy-friendly as possible, I don't have a Google Tag running on my site, making it hard for Google to optimize for the right audience 1/2

I'm posting every day for 323 days (excluding weekends) π³ building in public and posting regularly is something I enjoy, but I don't feel like posting something every day still, I'm in fear that if I stop, I'll let the habit slip completely :/

I had this feature in the backlog, but it was prioritized quite low yesterday a user requested it - for my kanban board, it means that the ticket gets a huge priority boost :) it's now possible to see from which cities your users are coming from + filter by specific cities π₯³

nothing better than a user who's been using your product for a week, sending you an email that he really likes your product + gives some improvement feedback, which you can straight start working on to make their experience even better π

donβt confuse locking in with working 24/7 to lock in means: 1. work on the things that matter 2. cutoff unhealthy habits and focus the gained time and energy on point 1. touching grass is actually important to lock in efficiently :D
