This is Major Henry Rathbone. He is one of the supporting characters in my latest novel, “Abraham Lincoln’s Traveling Medicine Show.” Did you know he’s considered one of the most forgotten men in history?

I’m currently in the regrouping, marketing phase after finishing my third novel. So not quite back to the “writing regularly” mode. But best of luck to those that are. Your voice, and the stories you tell are important and needed.

A couple of minor characters in my novel are prostitutes. But the real whores in the story are the politicians. Kind of like real life.

I never thought I would love this collection of stories as much as I did. What a wonderful peek into the 1930’s. Despite their age, most of these stories felt extremely modern.

One of the things I love about being an indie writer is I can fly under the radar of the book banners. While the notoriety may add some readers, I'm more thrilled that my novels are available to all so the reader can form their own opinions. Maybe I'll open an eye or two. Or at least entertain.

This novel by indie author @dh-schleicher.bsky.social defies genre so I can only categorize it as FANTASTIC. At times devastating, often relatable, and oddly optimistic. This is one solid, smart read.

I know there's a lot going on right now in the world that has many distracted and depressed. And believe me, I'm one of them. But as I finish the last tweaking of my third novel, I will warn you, I'm going to be talking about it. It's literally the only thing that's keeping me going these days.

I had wanted my current WIP - an historical fiction / political satire, taking place during the Lincoln assassination, to be ready to publish today (Lincoln's birthday). It was wishful thinking, but I'm not rushing this one. Too much potential. Soon. I hope.

Deleted every single word I wrote yesterday. But today has been much more productive.

It was hard to focus on writing today but still managed to start my next chapter. We’ll see tomorrow how much of it I will actually keep.

I followed this indie author over on the old bird app. Today I’m starting his book.

Just finished this from indie author, @erinlouis666.bsky.social. While more pulp than noir, it’s a fun quick read. If you like your crime novels full of gangsters, crooked cops, and strippers that DO NOT have hearts of gold, this sleazy tale of lust and killing should keep you turning the pages.

A lot of research has been done on my current WIP, which is historical fiction / political satire. But these three books have been the most useful.

Well it looks like my day will be writing and shoveling. And hopefully, a little reading.

So many new friends here. What you can expect from me are post about writing my current WIP, books I've recently read, a cat picture or two, indie authors I've enjoyed, random thoughts, tales from my past, goals for my future, and an occasional plug of my own novels.
