And "sort of squint and see" ... they beat the 2 seed in the first round, including Game 7 in Houston. Then they won Game 1 in Minnesota -- but Curry got hurt. I don't think you needed to look THAT hard to see some quality in the Warriors last season.

Uhh, Curry and Butler are injured, so, yes, if you don't count those two, it's not a good team. But I still count them.

He’s been waived four times. A Rochester kid in Napa. His G League coach thinks he’s a “dog.” It was a blessing, not a burden, to play 4 games in as many days. Get ready to learn Nate Williams, whose viral moment last night could be a beginning, not a blip:

Their minutes weren't identical, but close. Just a reminder that it's always good to have somebody to match up with a No. 1 scorer. So far: Draymond +7 (1 point, 1 rebound, 4 assists) Kawhi -2 (8 points on 3 of 6 shooting)

Warriors are matching Draymond's minutes with Kawhi -- they thought Kawhi was coming in to start the quarter then pulled Draymond quickly when Kawhi wasn't in. They're both going to check in next stoppage.

Hadn't seen the documentary. Knew I'd be terrible if I showed up at all. My cousin just sent it to me. She's great in it. I was quick on the "stop" button because I knew if I appeared, it'd be bad. Update: IT WAS BAD. Late note to Justin Lin: Hope I didn't screw your movie up too much.

I sorta pride myself on not being terrible on camera. There's one time that was different--a project about Japanese-American basketball leagues in CA. Director was great, but we got frustrated by my screwups. Thank you to my cousin who just let me know the director was ... Justin Lin. Dang it.

Counting Santos as $5M next season + Draymond's $27.7M player option--and not counting Horford and Melton's player options... Warriors have $172.3M committed to 7 players next season. Cap projection: $166M. Lux tax: $201.7M. Also doesn't count Post (RFA) or Porzingis (UFA).

Big-picture note: I'm not saying any decision has been made about Steve Kerr's future by team execs or Kerr, but ... This is the kind of contract that fits with Kerr continuing as the coach past this season. Because Gui Santos is very much a Kerr kind of player.

There's no way Melton is picking up his minimum-contract for next season. Many situations, players and roles are involved in the offseason decisions and GSWs might not even get access to the non-tax MLE. But yes, if they get the NTPMLE, it's likely set up for either Melton or another guard.

Might've been mentioned elsewhere, but it's dawning on me that with Fernando Mendoza looking like at lock at No. 1 and David Bailey a strong option at No. 2, the top NFL picks in April could be (former) Cal and Stanford players. Good ol' ACC football factories.

Also, it's been so long since the Warriors had access to the non-taxpayer mid-level exception that I've lost track of the number. Said it wrong on the episode. Actual NTPMLE: $14.1M this season, projected to be over $15M next. Really would help GSWs to have access to that.

Understand your point, but the 49ers hold Trent out of most of the camp practices, anyway. He doesn't get worn down and if he started to, they'd just keep him out of every practice.

Also, Trent W could push it further by threatening another holdout. But he's under contract. That's the 49ers' leverage. They don't have to do anything.

The 2024 restructure was designed to give the 49ers a decision on Trent W this offseason: -Take the $38.8M cap hit in '26 /Or -Guarantee more in the future to lower the '26 hit. Especially with the Aiyuk money going away, 49ers can take the hit. But always would like it lower.

I know everybody always wants to panic or get enraged over everything, but one question: Why would the 49ers release Trent Williams over an upcoming $10M payment? That's nothing in the big picture. They want him on the team. They have the cap space.
