You don't have to be internet famous to make a game, you can just make one. You don't have to sell a ton of it to prove it's good.

Can I learn and master an award winning rope magic routine in just a few days to amuse kids at Christmas? No. Has that stopped me trying? Also no.

So search is broken, but there is hope: non-general purpose search engines. Search engines that hyper focus on one specific topic. Conjuring Archive is an excellent example of this. You type in a magic thing, it returns a bunch of results including author, description, and publication source.

I think it would be cool if games that used AI had to include a prominent label on the front of the box that read "the people who made this game hat artists, and the wider creative community, and are working towards the end of artistic endeavour"

If I had to pick my favourite solo games I played this year I would go: 1 Spirit Island 2 Robinson Crusoe 3 Cascadia 4 Natureopolis 5 Nemo's War

Eldest was outraged because this old Zelda game lost his save. Time to change the battery! It is incredible how long these things last. This is the original battery I just pulled out, and it was working some time earlier this year. I can't imagine any tech being this reliable now, or repairable.

So, what are the best play by post RPGs that can be played super slow, like shooting an email back and forth once a week, that really lend themselves to farcical situations. There have to be things I am missing. High society, but play by post. #ttrpg

On a plus side I have read a lot of great books this year, many of which are books of magic, the rest of which are ghost stories. So that is fun.

A friend popped in over the weekend and we were chatting. They asked me "seen any good films this year?" And I paused and thought. Then it dawned on me that I have not watched any films this year other than the Minecraft movie, and that was crap.

My name's James and I'm here to say: Links Awakening has the best dungeon design of all of the Zelda games, especially compared to the most recent two where the game was good, and the quests fun, but the dungeons were actually quite boring to go through.

I am trying to publish a Christmas themed murder mystery game before Christmas, but I am rubbish, and also it's amazing how much time having two kids takes up.

Next years MFGJ will actually be the MicroFiche Game Jam, and we all have to publish games on microfiche, how all games should be published anyway.

I have to say, I do like Hero Quest, but this is absolutely the worst rule to be in a game ever.

I am looking for suggestions for some indie sci-fi skirmish wargames that are rules light and require very few miniatures. No campaign, just skirmishing. Rules light enough, and quick enough, that I could play it with an 8 year old. I know Space Weirdos, what else is there? #boardgames #wargames

I am holding five coins.

I have been using vanilla android for a while and one thing stands out particularly. The keyboard. It keeps flagging grammar "error" with blue lines even though the text if fine, and the suggestions to fix them are comically business like and bland. Yet the rogue "if" up there passes unnoticed.

It has taken me a month to get the knackered of holding coins exactly like this. Those in the know on coin magic will know exactly what I am up to. For some reason this has taken me ages to get down when really it seems so simple l. The fun starts now.

I am about to sit down and watch a 4 hour lecture on coin magic. Hopefully some good ideas in here.

A boardgame cafe but it's only solitaire games and loose leaf tea in pots.

This is such a very good game. I took a couple of years off it because I just played it a ton over the last 7 years, and had kind of played it out. Heard it mentioned at the start of the week and felt an urge to play it again and am glad I did. Lots of fun, is Nemo's War.

I would mostly garden the public spaces that are neglected about town to brighten the place up with flowers. That and do magic for more people. Flowers and magic basically.
