It's been snowing most of the day and I've actually been enjoying it. For years I've detested snow and this is the first year in at least two decades that I've actually seen snow in any kind of positive light.

Today's get fresh air quest was stepping outside into the cascading snow and taking a frosty breath while retrieving the shipment of cat food that had come in. I managed to snag a few pics of the snow, too, which makes me happy. I'm not a Winter hobbit at all, but taking pretty pics of snow helps.

I do the same amount of drafts now as I did then. That is, whatever number it takes for me to feel like the story is Done to the best of my ability. I don't set a specific number minimum or maximum. Writing is abt enjoying the process, not forcing or limiting yourself in amt of tries. #pretendpanel

I used to be a staunch pantser but now I'm more of a plantser - VERY loose outline of things that need to happen but if the story works a different way better I will deviate. In addition, I used to handwrire everything, but now the only things I handwrite are character notes, poems, and outlines.

Absolutely! I have nature spirits in my Tales of Shady Nook series. If you count ghosts as spirits then I also have a ghost hunting series in the works. Spirits and deities are present in most of my work in one way or another as most of my characters are some flavor of Pagan.

I've written several commissions (as well as short stories of my own) featuring snake and lizard people. I find them a lot of fun to write especially as I myself love sneks. I can see snake people eventually showing up in Tales of Shady Nook as well.

I used to create elaborate character profiles before I'd start writing, now I just let characters reveal stuff as I write. For me, I always start with a character and then figure out what story they're part of later. In Tales of shady Nook, I started with Grisha, the tavern keep. #pretendpanel

Teenage me dreamt of being a poet. When I realized that's not a way to make a living I put it aside. Now I'm working on my first book of poetry & hope to release it Fall 2026. For prose, I used to write YA for years but have left that behind in favor of Fantasy and "adult" fiction. #pretendpanel

I LOVE dragons! I have come to realize that if a story has a dragon in it, I'm probably going to enjoy it. That said, I have yet to write a story featuring dragons of my own. They will be in my Tales of Shady Nook series, I just haven't written a short story involving them yet. SOON!!!
